No, I need a video over 10 minutes that starts with some pointless personal story, a history of color pencils and 12 examples on how not to do it followed by a half assed 30 seconds explanation that helps no one
As someone who’s only ever used crayola, HELL YES. THANK YOU. sometimes I gotta remind myself that it really does just come down to patience and a bit of forethought
I started drawing/coloring with Crayola pencils myself, and quite extensively. By the end of them (aka. when I switched brands) I was fully capable of getting great color blends out of them, but it came at the cost of super heavy drawing pressure (not great for the arm _or_ the paper involved), in fact my major reason for seeking out a different brand WAS the desire to blend colors faster and easier -- but the underlying blending techniques are basically the same. (A single layer of Prismacolors looks not much different from a single layer of Crayolas, they just blend multiple layers so much easier) The sponge trick is news to me, though.
THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO I LITERALLY BOUGHT EXPENSIVE COLOR PENCILS AND WAS SO SAD THAT THEY DIDN'T LOOK THE WAY I WANTED THEM TOO BUT THIS VIDEO MADE ME REALIZE HOW EASY IT WAS THANK YOU YOU ARE A GIFT FROM GOD TO THE YOUNG ARTISTS IN THIS WORLD
I bought a set that almost cost €30.- it works perfectly fine, best pecils I ever had but if I had known I could do this all along I wonder if I had bought it in the first place. Oh well. Atleast the color pallet is much bigger then any small coloring box you can get.
Awesome and helpful video. Something tells me your ability to portray light and how it reacts to an object is something that isnt so quickly learnt or taught
This is the perfect You Tube video. Less than 3 minutes long. All the information. No random padding out the information with their life story. I can’t believe that that’s achieved with cheap pencils and not expensive alcohol markers. Amazing.
THIS IS WHY DRAWING IN REAL LIFE IS SO MUCH MORE FUN THAN DIGITAL! Putting the colored pencils on a damp sponge to soften them? That's amazing!! Thank you!!!!
I knew it could be done! I refuse to buy expensive colored pencils when I’m just using them for a hobby but knew they could look nice if I use them properly ❤
when I was a kid, I used to just use dull flat/near flat color pencils to blend in the colors, mostly by using that larger surface area of the particular color (if not just white) to jam into the paper with hard pressure and force the colors to blend into a nice flat shade too.
when i was younger, i used to see my uncle wet his red pencil in water when he wanted to circle something in. it fascinated me and honestly helped me a lot later on when i got into traditional coloring more seriously 😊
I started drawing/coloring with Crayola pencils myself, and by the end of them I was no stranger to getting intense color quality out of them -- but it required heavy drawing pressure to do so (I really could've used a drawing mat to protect further pages, I just didn't have one). In fact, one of my motivations for seeking out better options (like Prismacolors) WAS the ability to place more color with less pressure. First time hearing about the sponge trick, though! It's almost worth making one or two attempts with....
What a great video. Short and to the point. And my guy still has the nerve to ask if it’s was good. How humble of him I learned more today than I did in high school art class
I got I would say decent at drawing up some anime pictures for my daughter. I have a friend who made some comments about my colouring so I kinda stopped colouring in my drawings. I find this video sooo helpful. And can't wait to give colours another go. Thank you I am now subscribed, looking forward to see the other videos on the channel! And thank you one more time just in case you missed the first time
He is exactly RIGHT. COLORED PENCILS ARE MY PRIMARY MEDIUM, AND IM VERY THOROUGH WITH MY LAYERING, AND SHADING, BLENDING, AND LIGHTING HAS BEEN MY MOST ACKNOWLEDGE TRAITS
I always wondered how people got such a crisp look when using colored pencils. Now i know! After more than 10 years of drawing, I learned something new and will start practicing! Thank you!!
As an artist who uses colored pencils, Crayola is actually not bad! They have a good amount of pigment with not too much wax. Plus they blend together pretty well using various techniques--including solvents. So even though it is a less expensive brand, don't be knocking Crayola!
I have a variety of colored pencils from Crayola to Prismacolor ones. Could you do any tutorials on mixing cheap colored pencils with high quality ones?
Zero bullshit, blatant self promotion, wacky dude or girl showing him or herself for attention, str8 to the point and clear... holy shit ya did it mang. Its perfect.
thank you! i’ve used crayola and staedtler and i was like “maybe i need a better brand?” but this works amazingly! besides, you know how people say to blend with a q-tip/tissue? that wouldnt work, so thanks!
Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial!!! I’m about to get procreate so I can color my art, but when I go back to school these might come in handy 🤣
Wow, this tutorial is a game changer! 🌟 Your tips for blending cheap colored pencils like a pro are incredible. I can’t wait to try these techniques in my own art. Thanks for making it so easy to achieve professional results! 🎨✨

This video showed up on my feed last week and I checked it out. I had no idea until your channel came up today in our morning meeting that you are literally one of my co-workers. 😂 Small world!
I buy expensive pencils, my go to brand is faber-castell black edition, you can get other ones but they just look like regular pencils for the same price & I just love them being all black lol they’re unique! I enjoy colouring in & doing finer words & stuff, it’s good for the brain & super fun to do in your spare time.
Everything takes patients and people forgot that with fingertip convenience. Art though ,no matter how advanced we are will always take effort and patients because it has to be created.
This makes so much more sense, been seeing and trying more of the circle motion technique and I feel that makes my hand more tired while my hand always wants to go this style more 😂 . Definitely will give this a go, might try the sponge tip too. Thank you for this video ❤️

Yeah we saw the video you don’t need to describe it
When a three minute video makes you understand something you couldn't for a year.
That's quite the compliment. Thank you!
true
More like my entire life 🥲

This taught me more about colouring with pencils than my art class teachers in 12 years, thanks!
12 years of art classes and you still found this more usefull. I'm so sorry.
@@antiqas that's literally such a scam 😭
My art teacher gives us colored pencils and leaves to go on there phone
straight to the point in less than three minutes. awesome tutorial, thanks

i love people that goes right to the point.
Yeah, me too. 👍
Awesome and helpful video.
Something tells me your ability to portray light and how it reacts to an object is something that isnt so quickly learnt or taught
Yeah, there's definitely an element of "Draw a circle, draw the rest of the owl" to this when it comes to that part of the process. 😅
This is the perfect You Tube video. Less than 3 minutes long. All the information. No random padding out the information with their life story.

Exactly
I've ruined a lot of decent lineart with bad coloring, and this will help a lot. Thanks for posting this!
Oh, my pleasure! We've all been there. 😉
Me too 😭😭😭
I will never take "just use the colored pencils" for granted again. Thank you! This was awesome!
Honestly, it is one of the most helpful and useful vids about color pencils on this platform! Thank you so much!
I'm so glad! Thank you for the kind words. 😊
So THIS was what I was missing to make my coloured pencil drawings more vibrant and smoother! Thanks a lot!
THIS IS WHY DRAWING IN REAL LIFE IS SO MUCH MORE FUN THAN DIGITAL! Putting the colored pencils on a damp sponge to soften them? That's amazing!! Thank you!!!!
Digital has it's own nice tricks, I think both can be very fun, simply a matter of preference.
i think both are satisfying but traditional materials are just another level
Damp sponges make everything more exciting
@@Kokose no
Bold of you to assume that I can’t just stick my drawing stylus into a damp sponge right now
Nothing feels better than that

wet tips and an extra layer with markers were my signature move in art class. glad to see this
This is probably the most information I’ve got out of a two minute video, even more than the 10+ minute ones. Keep up the amaaaazing work!!
