MY UPDATED HOME TOUR (renovated before & after)

UPDATE ** i do not want to glorify living in bali or make it seem like everything here is sunshine and rainbows. i want the opposite. i now really want to bring light to the over gentrification of this island and how incredibly sad it is. This island is slowly being destroyed more and more by rich white people who come here with money in their eyes and see the value of rental properties. I wish i would’ve had more of an understanding of this when i moved to bali 3 years ago. I never would’ve shared anywhere that i live here.
I DID NOT BUY THIS LAND & I DO NOT OWN THIS HOME PERMANENTLY *** it is a 25 year leasehold and thankfully i rent it from a really lovely balinese family whos has this land in their family for 200 years. I’m very happy that all the money i get to spend on this home - goes to support this balinese family and pay for their children to go to school.
PLEASE // if you come to bali - tread lightly. leave it better than you came. learn the language and respect the local people. don’t be flashy with your wealth. don’t buy plastic and pollute the rivers and oceans even more. this island is a very sacred place but it won’t be for long if we continue to run it into the ground.
i’m not perfect and i’ve made a lot of these mistakes when i first moved to bali. but if we know better we should do better. and i’m trying to bring more awareness to the grim reality of bali that’s so present these days
