    I can’t believe this is exist in my country, Indonesia, Bali has becomes the magnet of every foreigner to get great quality of life in cheap price. While for local like us it might be difficult to afford life like that, I wish there will be more an more locals can build a dream house in our own country like this. and I hope every foreigner who comes and live in Bali will never forget abt caring the local communities as social responsibilty to give back.

    More and more people move to Bali and stay longer there by owning their own Villa, especially foreigners.
    This means that it will increase land prices in Bali.
    RIP Balinese who only get very low salaries by being a cleaning service or massage therapist at the Villa
    and some balinese even face unilateral termination from the hotel/Villa owner.
    ---
    I hope that hotels/villas in Bali will be more owned by the local government/State owned hotels, so that all Balinese people can get more living benefits from tourism profits than just being slaves,
    better than if hotel ownership being controlled by investors from outside the island of Bali or foreigners.

      Impossible the law forbids foreigners from owning a property the closest they can get is obtaining leasehold right of their property but first they have to earn their KITAS/KITAP

      I mean it should be limited by law because currently - (85% of Tourism Assets in Bali Owned by Foreigners, Tribun News, 2020).
      That's an insane number (85%),
      Indonesians pay taxes, some of the taxes are used for tourism promotion and public facilities such as airports or asphalt roads,
      But nowadays there are still many poor Balinese living in huts, when i saw their huts, for me, that huts looks like an animal cage.
      In my opinion, at least there should be a few villas owned by the local government,
      So that the profits can be shared equally with the Balinese by providing free education or scholarship or living allowances or housing subsidies to the Balinese from tourism profits.

    • @Rexoble
      @Rexoble ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Did you know, currently in Bali there are a lot of beautiful spots that have been worked on by the private sector, so tourists need to spend more money, just to enjoy these beautiful spots. Now in Bali, there are private beaches, private rivers, private waterfalls, private mountain views, private cliffs, some hills which have been totally transformed to build a hotel terrace, etc.
      I think the local government/Indonesian government, should create more ecoparks/flower gardens/Water park/amusement parks, instead of letting private companies take some of the most beautiful spots for sunrise or sunset.
      so that local governments can earn more money from admission tickets, local governments can use those tourism profits for better facilities, better sanitation systems, and better waste management in Bali.

    • @Rexoble
      @Rexoble ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Another fact I want to share is that today's tourism methods only make the rich richer (if more are private owned) and the poor remain poor and live a miserable life.
      ----
      Ian Coxhead (University of Wisconsin-Madison):
      In low-income countries, the use of tax revenues to fund tourism promotions is motivated in part by the belief that tourism growth will improve income distribution by expanding demand for relatively low-skilled labor.
      Thailand's tourism boom, fueled in part by a series of publicly funded promotional campaigns, has coincided with a period of worsening inequality. We find that growth of inbound tourism demand raises aggregate household income, but worsens its distribution. This is because tourism sectors are not especially labor-intensive in the Thai context, and because the expansion of foreign tourism demand creates general equilibrium effects that undermine profitability in tradable sectors (such as agriculture) from which the poor derive a substantial fraction of their income. These results indicate that tourism growth is not a panacea for other goals of development policy;

      I guess you have to have been in the tropics to get that... So, it's very humid, you can't really be "cool" naturally in the tropics, just in closed spaces with aircon. But you definitely have to keep the sun out and if there's a breeze it helps a lot, and that's what those shutters do. I guess this is as close as you get without shutting yourself in completely.
