Normally, I would ignore hecklers. But I once shared a stage with a guy who had a thick skin, but when he ran out of patience, he made his heckler a laughingstock. One night this one drunk was ruining it for everybody, and this guy just stopped playing and glared at this clown. The room got real quiet, then he played the nine-note intro to “Dueling Banjos” and looked expectantly at the drunk.

Nothing wrong with "Folsom Prison Blues" but I normally start that with B7 when I jam on it.

I like this style of video a lot.
People are complaining because there is talking and isn't a straight list of song titles.
Just google a list if all your after is a list of names and artists.
This is youtube and a video format and I enjoy watching this and hearing discussion.

Of course it is the EXACT same song. The Evil Music Corporation fed Marvin Gaye into their American Idol Supercomputer and it changed the song just enough so they could sell it for millions before they got sued for theft. And the lawsuit doesn't matter because what they are really doing is training kids to listen to dumber and dumber music. This is like when you order a Coke but they bring you a Pepsi; but it's not Pepsi it's a Diet Mr. Pibb with cancer in it.

2 big ones i see requested a lot is Layla-eric clapton and bad moon rising- creedance clearwater revivial. The acoustic version of layla is great for everyone, its super fun to play and pretty much everyone knows it, after 10 seconds in the song you grab their attention. Bad moon rising is easy and really fun to play and sing also CCR are just awesome anyway!, every single one of their songs are simple but super fun. Bad moon rising also is short, only 2 and a half mins or so and it gets everyone in a good mood despite the actual lyrics an meaning of the song.

    Crazy- Gnarls Barkley
Friends in Low Places- Garth Brooks
    Can't Help Falling in Love
    You Look Wonderful Tonight- Clapton
    Stand by Me
    Smooth- Santana a/Rob Thomas

    Banana Pancakes- Jack Johnson

I sat in with a band in which the guitarist was a master at reading crowds. One night we had a very drunk loud heckler at one of the tables. The guitarist stopped the band in the middle of a song. He stood there and stared at the heckler. The place gradually went quiet. Then he played the first nine notes of "Dueling Banjos" and looked at the heckler as though he was waiting for the banjo part. Everyone got it except the drunk.

Love this video. More like it please guys. Unlike some of the commenters, I love Sean and all his friends, so I also like the banter. its not just about playing guitar. I am an old guy that started playing guitar at 66. A few years later now, but my band gigs at senior centers about twice a month, so most of our repertoire is a bit dated, because we try to pick stuff they know. I love seeing younger folks give me tips about what to play at parties etc. Yes. I have to play a lot of old songs I don’t even like, but we try to give the crowd what they want, and hey its all good practice. Wish I could play half as good as you two guys. Keep up the good work.
I jammed behind a coffee house with a ukulele for about 4 years with another guy. Most people there just wanted to sing along to songs they recognized and didn’t care about fancy guitar solos etc. They liked a few signature riffs and stuff they could sing at least the chorus on.

As a fellow Gulf Coast resident (currently under a hurricane warning) I always have a few Jimmy Buffett tunes ready. The key is to play something besides Margaritaville or Cheeseburger in Paradise. Those often get requested anyway depending on who you’re playing for. If you’re on the Emerald Coast try “Life is Just a Tire Swing” or “Frank and Lola.”

One that really works for me also happens to be the first one I'd ever learned: "House of the Rising Sun". Another good oldie for the live shows is "Here Comes the Sun". And, of course, you can never go wrong with Eric Clapton's "Bad Love" if you have a strong enough voice. It's even good as an acoustic number if you can merge the bass line in there.

When I used to play at parties a lot, I used find that a lot of Beatles songs worked, as well as 'Stand By Me', and 'Brown Eyed Girl'.
Fun fact - Lennon was sued by the publishing company that owned Chuck Berry's 'You Can't Catch Me' because Lennon took the first line from the Chuck Berry song.
Fun fact - 'Black Magic Woman' is by (the original, Peter Green led version of) Fleetwood Mac.

"PLAY FREEEEE BIRRD!" Has been requested at nearly every gig I've ever played. Well ... this past summer we were playing to a 500+ crowd at a local winery and there it was again. This time though some very persistant out-of-town tourists wouldn't let it go. I thought ... seriously ... why NOT Free Bird? We performed a shorter than the original rendition--complete with the deedly-deedly-deedly guitar riffs. The crowd LOVED IT! We will soon be winding down for 2018 ... and tooling up for 2019 and yes ... we're adding FB to our 'to do' list ... complete with the signature Hammond B3 opening chords ... and the deedly-deedly-deedly at the conclusion.

The truth is that things like that have been happening to me on a regular basis since I began busking and living on the streets of New Jersey. Last year a couple of husbands wanted to rip my head off and poop down my neck. Their wives enjoyed my music, and since the wives were young and beautiful (late 20's, early 30's) it only fueled their jealous rage.
This year it has skewed much younger. I just started my The Cosmic Busker channel on TH-cam a few days ago. The first song I performed to upload to my channel was a cover of Neil Young's "Helpless". I shot the video in the train station where I spend most of my time.
After I finished recording the song in the train station, I remained silent for about 5 minutes. Suddenly I heard this pretty and petite young voice echo through the train station:
      "Keep on Singing!"
I busted out the guitar and did The Beatles "Across the Universe" for her. Afterwards I went down to a lower level to chat with and her female friend.
"I want you to smoke my blunt." she said, handing me the burning cannabis.
After a couple of quick tokes, I told them I had to go...that I had a couple of ladies about their age (19 and 20) meeting me on the top floor.
A couple of minutes later, my 2 other female friends showed up on the top floor.
"There are some girls down below smoking a blunt." one of them told me.
"I know."I responded. "I was just down there smoking with them."
"You are hanging out with 2 other girls besides us?!?!?" she responded jealously.
Such is the life of a rock star, unknown as I may be.

..This is a great video because it hits a neglected area of music..."song selection"...How many 100's of sites are talking about scales and pentatonic riff- raff, with virtually NONE on the RIGHT music to play ???...I can get philosophical about this, but C/W genre' needs a GUIDE believe it or not...Yahhh, lots of people are like I was...not liking Country...I hated it in fact until about 52 y/o. It was then I went to a karaoke club and tried a song...The girl emcee didn't like the way I sang it and put up "Omar" next. I found out later he was known as the 2nd best singer in Nashville, with a booming Broadway voice. I felt 1 inch high. You either crawl under a rock and never do that again, or you say, "By gawd I'll show YOU" !!!....So I started listening to Prime Country....not Modern, or Old, or Roadhouse Country, but PRIME to hear songs that were in my range. I would then memorize the lyrics and buy the CD to practice in the car...I was astounded to learn the RICHNESS of the genre'...The songs were about everyday life....."that ain't my truck in her driveway"...."I said grandpa what's this picture here, it's all black/white, it ain't real clear, is that you there?? He said yahhh, I was 11"......."I fell into a burnin' ring of fire".....If people are GUIDED to the right songs, they will like it...

I'd like to point out that Come Together is not random gibberish but a lot of the lyrics (and riff) are from the Chuck Berry song You Can't Catch Me. Also the weird bits grafted to this are about Timothy Leary and were going to be his campaign song when he ran for Governor of California. "In 1969, Leary decided to run for Governor of California, and asked John Lennon to write a song for him. "Come Together, Join The Party" was Leary's campaign slogan (a reference to the drug culture he supported) and was the original title of the song." Otherwise great vid! Keep it up guys
