    Everyone saying that concept rowers SHOULD have the handle stored outside the racking point….I don’t care, it’s messy and has no place in a photo submitted for a pain cave review 😂

      Welp, I was just about to make that comment. And concept2 has changed their manufacturing so it is fine to store the handle in the holder, but it is hard to overcome that many years of a built up habit.

    • @rascott1970
      @rascott1970 ปีที่แล้ว

      This not using the handle holder dates from the 80s when the fear was the bungee would get stretched. C2 assure us now the handle can be safely stored in the holder with no ill effect but old habits die hard

      Ignore them. They're all wrong and you're right. Concept USED to recommend leaving the handle out of the rack...back in the days of the model A and B. But from the model C onward they changed the design and it's not an issue. Put the handle in the damn rack.

      Common myth. They changed how they made them a LONG time ago, and that advice only applies to Model B rowers. Everything from C forwards, you can store in the holder. The only reason not to, is if it's likely to get walked into and knocked out of place.

    • @markalderdice2288
      @markalderdice2288 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Anyone with any rowing experience knows that what Mark calls the “rack” position is not where the handle should be stored when the machine is not in use. Rookie error mate. Totally excusable though for one who has never actually rowed. Great video nonetheless, as always. Your joke about children’s weights is one of the best I’ve ever heard

    • @rowalong
      @rowalong ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@markalderdice2288 It's a strangley hotly debated topic. Concept2 engineers say it's totally fine to keep in the hook - anything after the Model B is designed to be ok. But the Model D manual still says to keep in the hook. And there's just the historical habit of people keeping it there, whether it's because they believe it preserves the shock cord, or just to stop it being knocked out of the hook accidentally. But the truth according to the C2 engineers anyway - is it doesn't matter as far as the bungee is concerned.

    Minor point... I believe Concept2 recommends to park the handle against the stops to reduce the tension on the elastic return cord, thus making your machine maintain its handle return tension for longer, before needing adjustment of the cord/replacement. 0:59

    Great video made me laugh ! ! ! 🙂
    There is a reason why you don't store the handle in the racking point : it stretches the bungee cord for nothing while you are not rowing. So better let it go. My 2 cents... I know that some of us will say that it's irrelevant, but I got the answer from a tech directly at Concept2 in Vermont USA when I bought my rower directly at the factory. 🙂

    @stevephla ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I intentionally allow my rower handle to stay in the fully retracted position, rather than in the little holder. The reason is the bungie cord. It's an ol' model B and I'm trying to preserve what little elasticity remains in the original part. Hm, kinda like my Achilles tendons.

    We tend to say to only use it for short rests between pieces.

    Buy a full power rack with multi grip pull up included, they look cumbersome but actually save a lot of space in reality, you can do so many exercises in them. on them, etc even without weights, add gymnastic rings and a dip station to the rack itself and you are sorted, you can store loads within the frame also when not in use, forget singular pieces of equipment eg pull up bars etc they are not needed and take up extra space, and installing equipment outdoors in this part of the world is not great, cold, wet, dirt, rust , nah.
