I understand! That’s very normal. Just hang in there and continue practicing, it will come eventually. I also have a course that focus on listening and pronunciation, that you can check here: school.learn-portuguese.org/p/speech-course
It can help you get used to the difficult sounds of the language and all those contractions that native speakers do when speaking fast.
If you have any questions, please let me know ☺️

Muito obrigada pelo video. É ótimo! Falas muito claramente! Percebi quase tudo sem ler os subtítulos. ;)
Eu gosto muito de aprender uma lingua ouvindo e lendo muito. Já li dois livros em português e aprendi muito e ouço podcasts em português também. Agora, falta ainda falar mais para conseguir falar mais fluentemente.
PS: Viel Spaß beim Deutschlernen, Mia! ;)

I love this channel! Thank you for offering this. I never had proper training in speaking Portuguese as a child, but I learned from both sets of grandparents who are from 2 different regions of Portugal (Azores & mainland Portugal).
Learned to speak and read Portuguese from letters sent from Portugal.
I can switch from Azorean accent & mainland accent depending on who I’m talking to. 😂
But I’m always willing to learn more as there is so much more.
    Muito obrigada! 🥰

Olá 👋 maybe you can try my speech course, because it can help you make sense of the difficult sounds, and the contractions that native speakers do when speaking at their normal speech rate. I mentioned this already in a comment before, but I believe it can really help to know these, so that then you can start making sense of things. The link is here in case you want to check it out: school.learn-portuguese.org/p/speech-course
About the words that mean different things: this happen sometimes in Portuguese, as well is other languages, but you have to see it in context. May I ask if you’ve been studying alone or with the help of someone? It can make quite a difference. Most of all, don’t give up! ☺️

@@MiaEsmerizAcademy Thanks. I’ve been studying with teachers and by myself. I haven’t had a conversation yet even after studying for 8 years now. It’s very frustrating not to be able to read or converse and have to translate everything into English to understand. My pronunciation and spelling are good. Even when I hear or see words that I know I still have to translate them in my head before they mean anything. Even “aqui” and “agora” don’t mean anything to me until I translate them. I need to find a way to learn without translating. I’ve been practicing every day with my girlfriend for over 5 years now and she only speaks Portuguese but I still can’t understand what she is saying. Any ideas? Thanks
