- So finally the time came to add some more power to my abarth 124 spider. My abarth 124 spider currently has an abarthtuning.com sport cat and cross pipe. The abarth 124 spider also has a BMC air filter and upgraded coil packs. What was i hoping to achieve from remapping my abarth 124 on the driveway? I wanted to add a bit more power to compliment the already brilliant chasis the 124 spider has. In this video i show you the process of the remap and also the first drive with the new map on the Abarth 124 spider.

Sounds great mate. Remaps always make a huge difference even a stage 1. Manufacturers seem to detune to much now a days just to hit emission targets.

Fantastic looking car
Very nice Stef now an Airtek intercooler to finish off ! Why is it I have to import all parts from the UK lol ! Just installed Airtek intercooler with TMC box , BMC filter , rear muffler delete and custom exhaust Eibach pro spings kit and SCC spacers on my Giulietta had a few error codes which Carly took care of and all is well ! Nice work man !
Given the size of the engine - and turbo too - that is a fab noise. They're good stock but that is a superb exhaust note!

Can hear it getting through the Rev range quicker and especially when you change up, it’s on it straight away. Sounds great too! I Suppose 25bhp is going to make quite a difference in a 1100kg car. I got a similar remap through quantum for our transit custom camper van! The box looks identical, probably a generic bit of kit. I knew I wasn’t going to dyno the van but did some performance tests before and after: 30-50mph (3rd gear) was 7.31s, now 5.85s. (4th) - was 10.86, now 11.44 strangely. 50-70 (4th) was 14.52 now 8.88! (5th) - was 14.39, now 11.32. 30-70 (through gears) was 18.05, now 13.18s. Some absolutely huge gains, can now hold its own with cars where it struggled before. Great thing as you say about these is you can put it back to standard spec and there’s no silly box to install, fiddling on with wiring. Not a fan of hose piggy back boxes.
Yeah defo prefer these options to the piggyback boxes too. Yeah it defo feels more responsive and has some good pull now :)

See you there mate. If I’m honest this ECU is a pain to map and I wanted a solution that I can turn on and off if I want for this car. It’s a pretty generic map and yeah if tony spends ages on it he could prob squeeze some more out of it.

Since it's the same engine as in the 500 abart you can do a lot. I saw one on youtube with over 400hp but they said that the engine block is the only original thing left
I remember getting my 124 mapped on a rolling road and even in the hands of people who know these engines well will still struggle to tune them. They're such difficult cars to tune! glad yours is running well, enjoying the progress 🙌

Hi Stef. Does the remap only work when Sports button is on and has it improved pulling out of junctions at low revs when in 2nd at all? Great vid 👍
Works in both modes, defo has more low down grunt. Not huge amounts. I notice it more at the top end
What's the extra on the insurance when making modifications on the car?
Got my Saab 9-3 2.0T Estate booked for a mobile remap today. I cannot wait to feel the difference and wondering whether it will be noticeable. Never have had a remap done to a car before. I’m 20yrs old. Will be a stage 1 remap. Standard power figures of my car is 171hp and 280nm. After the remap I should have 205hp and 320nm. I can’t wait to test her out after.

M2C mate. As much as I love the 124 the M2C is leagues better I’ve driven a few of them and I love that car. Brilliant daily and more practical that the 124, quicker still rear wheel drive only issue is it doesn’t sound great out the box due to OPF. Will need a good exhaust to fix that but other than that i trumps the 124
How does this compare to Selectron's ChipBox?

Suspension was upgraded and it’s not a big enough power increase to worry the stock brakes

I took my car to a specialist in order to get the Celtic Performance remap. Sadly, I was told that my car has had a software update (probably by the dealer at the last service) and it will not take the remap.....at all! Is anyone aware of this issue?.... I have to wait for Celtic to crack the update before any remap can take place.
I’ve heard of this before. Infact i know someone who it’s just happened to and they can’t connect their power gate to the car now. Defo one to be mindful of

So one buys the £350 PowergateV3 Reprogrammer then add on a £120 File Remap yes?
I live in outback Australia and this could save me a fortune in travel and accomodation let alone the ridiculous £700 remap charge here.
I believe the power gate comes with a map but you pay more for the pops and bangs bangs to be added

Hi, I'm from Sydney ...... I used the Tork Motorsports tune (same concept as the Powergate).... happy as. But otoh l would rate the TMC as l am a long time customer.
The cel for the car is deleted in the map so it doesn’t come on. If you don’t map and have the original file it will come on.

Surely they must know what caused the issue, they played around with the file to get rid of it, so must know what they modified?
Think it was something linked to the lambda sensor delete

i know exactly what you mean about that ecu, it was was a pain to remap. ended up sending my file back to italy to get sorted. what should have been a couple of hours was weeks. i ended up getting the TMC tuning box..

That’s why people get multiple tunes...it’s not bad every once in a while, it’s fun. These cars have character with their sound
You won't get that wonderful sound on an EV!! EV's are not the way forward for people who love driving cars or riding bikes.
By the time you mess about doing all this. Might as well just buy a better car in the first place.
We've had it a few years now. But my girlfriend drives an Audi A5 S-Line Quattro convertible. Was £36k pre registered. Has 249bhp and virtual cockpit.
Who in the right mind would buy an Abarth and do it up. When both vehicles would probably be similar money all in.
I can understand kids buying the Fiat for £10k when they are 10 years old. But who buys them in the first place at near list price?
