Everything about that 2002/2003 squad was perfect for the time. In terms of a playing XV they had close to no weaknesses...if you were hypercritical you may have said we didnt have a truly world class 13...but both Catt and Tindall were excellent players. In contrast that team was jam packed with world class players and in Thompson, Jonno, Hill, Dallaglio, Wilko, Greenwood and Robinson they had arguably the best players of all time in those positions. What Woodward did was to prepare those players to be the fittest in the world and to have a plan for every scenario. The level of discipline required to achieve those aims must have been a nightmare for the players to work towards....but they did it because players like Jonno, Back, Hill, Wilko, Greenwood, Tindall, Robinson and Lewsey were ultimate grafters. I dont think this squad will ever be surpassed in 🏴 rugby...at least not in my lifetime.
@@chrisp4170 Will Greenwood was probably the most underrated player ever, but read the game better than almost anyone. He was faster than he looked to be and strong as a horse. The ultimate inside forward for the game that was played at the time.
Good leader. Agree with Jonno. Former British Infantry. Saw active service. Won NATO Infantry Comp, (NECIC, 1987). Do the basics well. Do the basics better than anyone else and you win. If you’re finding some extra 1% for the big moments, I don’t want you in my team. Learned that in the army. Best terms and conditions I’ve ever had.

I didn't like him as a player (I'm Irish) but that a compliment, great player!
