- This is my amazing experience to one to the most beautiful monsoon treks in India - The Hampta Pass Trek.
At 14,100 feet, Hampta Pass in Himachal Pradesh falls under those rare, dramatic pass crossings in the Himalayas. On one side is the lush green valley of Kullu - with forests, grasslands, and flowers blooming on the side of your trail. On the other is the almost arid, stark landscape of Lahaul, with barren mountains and almost no vegetation.
Standing on the top of the pass, what’s ahead and behind are two different worlds. It changes in a matter of minutes.
Simply put, the Hampta Pass is Himachal’s Valley of Flowers. The landscape is strikingly similar to that of Valley of Flowers - a green narrow valley protected by snow-covered mountains - but there’s an added bonus here.
When you get onto the other side of the Hampta Pass, you’ll be in awe looking at the stark contrast from what you just left behind. The landscape that stretches in front of you is Spiti Valley, known for its barren stretches, rugged terrain and forget-me-not blue skies.
What makes the dramatic changes heightened, even more, is how thrilling the climb to Hampta Pass is. For trekkers, crossing the Hampta Pass (even without the scenery changes) is a great story of adventure. They will love the nervous excitement of climbing to the pass over many ledges, almost appearing to get to the pass, but never really sure until you get there.

Yes carry all the things that you mentioned. There will be no electricity anywhere during the entire trek. They'll provide you hot water for drinking.
Guys, keep in mind that the road from manali to hampta pass trek starting location is so dangerous. There is also a notice saying Himachal pradesh is not responsible if you get killed. The road is thin, steep, lot of turns and has lot of cracks in it. So travel responsibly!!

I personally liked Trek The Himalayas in terms of the facilities and the budget as well. Other good options are India Hikes, Bikat adventures, Invincible NGO etc.

So my videos are shot in 4K and exported at a bitrate of 40. I think that is why you get good quality even in 360p resolution.

Both are beautiful treks in their own way. Hampta Pass is more greenary filled trek with glaciers at the summit and in Kedarkantha it'll all be fresh snow and that amazing sunrise. It is not simpler than Hampta, it is on the same level, it's just that the conditions are a bit harsh with temp less than -15° on the summit day at 3am.
Go for it buddy, you'll have a once in a lifetime experience!!

So, the best time for the trek would be July and August months, where the monsoon is at its peak. September is also good enough, but this being a monsoon trek, Jul and Aug would be the best.

So, the weather in May would be a bit different, you wouldn't see such green trails, it'll still be somewhat brown, and there will be less rainfall as compared to my vlog, that was from July end.
And I carried 3 powerbanks to charge my camera and phone, shot everything mostly on camera ( GoPro in my case), so usage of phone was quite less

Hampta pass ke liye best months July and August hote hai. Agar barish nahi chahiye, to May June and September me bhi kar sakte ho

So, precautions would just be to follow the instructions given by the instructors, just make yourself ready for the trek, make sure you walk/run around 5 kms daily atleast 15 days before the trek. And about the washrooms, so there should be a toilet tent with a composting toilet, and that's the only choice

Hello. As per my experience, the quality of the equipment was quite good. The red waterproof jacket that I've wore in the video is rented from TTH only. So, yes, you can surely rent sticks bag and shoes from them. It should not be an issue.
Really wanted to know if we can smoke cannabis during the trek coz we are planning to go in june 23.
I think that you need to check with your trekking organization. You still can smoke even if they don't allow, but make sure you don't get caught.

I did this trek in July end 2021. Yes you can, but since Hampta pass being a monsoon trek, it is preferable to do this during the peak monsoon season in July and August.

Yes brother, I went with Trek The Himalayas. The experience was very good. The food was great as well. The washroom and other facilities were also good. You'll enjoy the trek with them!
How is Hampta in October ? Is it good to go during this time?
Hampta in October would be pleasant enough, with winter very near, it'll be a difference experience. But you'll not be able to enjoy it as a monsoon trek, but still should be a worth experience.
Although, I'd suggest go for Kedarkantha trek in late November or December, it is one of the most beautiful winter trek. Do check out my Kedarkantha trek series to get a better idea 😊

You can go for Har Ki Doon trek in October, it is also a really beautiful trek in Uttarakhand.
It's difficult to compare Hampta and Kedarkantha, as both treks are at their best in different seasons. One most experience both of them as both are really beautiful easy-moderate treks.

You can get all the gears on rent from your trekking organization, or you can also rent them from Manali. There are lots of shops

Delhi Manali route has a daily volvo service, costing around 1700-2000

We are going on this trek on aug 15. How's the route from Chandigarh to Manali ? Is it safe to travel now due to landslides and rain ? Also is it crowded ?
The route from Chandigarh to Manali is just fine. I don't think you'll have any problem there.
See, there is always the risk of landslide in Himachal in monsoon. But the Chandigarh Manali is well maintained highway, so the authorities do take proper care of the landslide prone parts of it. So, I think it should be okay. Once you reach Manali, and start the trek, landslides would be out of the picture for you.
Hampta Pass trek would not be much crowded. You can expect maximum of 2-3 other groups trekking with you. But Manali is for sure crowded. Try to avoid Mall road and other places.

I think you won't be able to go at that time, since the place is closed and full of snow. You should be able to go in May depending on this year's snowfall season

I'd say go for July or August. These are the months when the monsoon is in the peak in Himachal, and since this being a monsoon trek, these 2 months would be the best!

The best time to visit Hampta Pass is July and August. But September is also good, with some residual rains and the valley is completely green and colourful. October is the last you can visit. I'd say a no for November because the snow starts to come in, and this trek is specifically meant for it's monsoon experience! So, try to visit it in September. Have a nice trek 😊

It's not the best time to visit Hampta Pass I'd say. Because Hampta pass is a monsoon trek, so it's best to go for the trek in July or August. But in October, you might find snow and the trail will be all green. It should be a decent experience. Go for it 😊🙌

It is optional if you are well aware of the trek route, but I would suggest to keep a guide because it's hard to figure out the correct route when it becomes foggy

So to answer your question, I have shot everything on GoPro Hero 9. I have 3 batteries with me. Also, I carried 3 powerbanks with me. GoPro Hero 9 batteries are really good and give nice backup. That's why I only had to charge all 3 of them twice in 5 days!

I'm taking 20000 mah n 10000mah power bank will it be enough for 4 days, I hv a gimble, an iPhone ( mostly shooting on standby mode nd a video light....)
Try to manage one more 20K power if you can to be on a safer side. Because phone will consume much battery than a GoPro. Also, if we talk about iPhone you'll have to charge it a bit more frequently than an android phone too. So, borrow it from a friend or someone to be on a safer side.

You can do it without a guide. Many people go for solo travelling there. But I'm not sure how convenient would it be. I would still prefer going with a guide, since monsoon is a tricky time in the Himalayas, so it's better to have someone experienced around if anything happens while on the way.

I have 3 GoPro batteries. Charged them all full, and carried 3 powerbanks. This should be enough for a 5 day trek 😊

Hello. This trek will be quite good in June, it would still be the start of monsoon, so you would not see lush green landscapes like in the video, but it should be a good experience. And no, you will not get any network, not even for sending sms.
