It’s straight up just Air Force basic. We had like 4 different hour long classes over 7.5 weeks that were space force related and that’s it

I retired from the USAF many years ago. But I can tell you I learned my profanities from Air Force Basic Military Training! My flight mates had to explain to me what they meant since I wasn’t going to get it from the MTI. Semper Supra from the SpOC!

My son graduated BMT in April and had SGT Santos as his MTI, He said he was extremely tough but he was renowned for putting out the best flights. And they did get top PT flight so obviously he was right. Also, he said the same thing you did, when there was a camera nearby they toned it down but when they were not......So anyway, he is in tech school now for space operations and he loves it and feels very blessed to be there. Thank you for your service ! Love the videos !!!..

There is no effort to make them work as a TEAM. That's the important mission of Boot Camp, break them of their civillian habits (like not making their bed in the morning) and work and WIN as a TEAM.

    • @TheNikeAirman

Right, Working as a flight is a huge part of BMT. If someone messes up its on everyone else too.

In that obstacle course scene you can see a photographer in the background with a long lens. This may have been for show, or likely to document the process of creating a basic training regime unique to the Space Force.

I enlisted in the AF in 1963 and retired as a SMSgt in 1983. During that time I've seen changes to rank names, stripe arrangements, uniforms and so forth. Don't fret, these things will change and evolve as time progresses on. Watching you "retire" you flight suit reminded me of the very first two years in the AF when they were transitioning from sage green to OD green fatigues. Some guys had OD shirts and sage pants (and vice versa). There was hardly anything "uniform" about the uniform. What a cluster... Some of the early optional uniforms you could wear in my early years were nothing more than Army uniforms with AF insignia. But like I said, things will change, sometimes for the good, sometimes not.

I went through Air Force boot camp in 1977. And I thought that was a joke. But that joke has now been surpassed. But I will give them a break. It is a completely new branch of service and it will take time to find their footing and what will be right for them. Good luck Space Force.
By the way, even Air Force boot camp has changed since 1977. For example, it is now 8 weeks. In 1977 it was only 6 weeks.

    • @featgorgon3985
      @featgorgon3985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

that, and you have to realize that on top of getting their footing the class from the video that everyone likes to harp on was literally 7 people, 7, now I’m no MTI but I feel like I wouldn’t want to be that aggressive and demanding of seven people especially when I’m supposed to be teaching them curriculum and skills that even I’m new at

The reason the obstacle course was not intense is this was shot during COVID. So all verbal instructions were toned down so not to project exhalation. So no yelling during COVID.

My husband went through BCT pre-pandemic 2020 and it was one of the last true BCT at least the type people expect from the movies. We just met a guy who legit said BCT was easier than he expected and there really wasn't much yelling, this was after the start of the pandemic, this is Army Basic training. I am not shocked that the USSF is chill also, I think the pandemic is playing a role obviously if an instructor was in your face yelling that would be a no-go even with a mask.

I went to AF basic in 75. We had WWII barracks with swamp coolers and the classroom was in an uncool-ed barracks. Hardest part was staying away in class in July. We did not have GPS, we had R2D2 (NAS-14V2) for the SR-71. Beale latter got the PAVE-PAWS (79) which I think is part of space command now.

Space force commando's or something. The music didnt make it look any more intense lol!! it looks fun really. If they are holding back for the cameras thats not a good way to go about it. If its hard sho that so you know what kind of people are signing up. Like Buds people want a challenge. This looks like a day at the park

Can’t wait to be a part of space force. My grandpa operated the single launch rocket trucks in the 50s right out of high school my other grandpa top of his class in army signal corps and then served in what became the nsa and spent time in Germany doing code breaking, mom is working at a small company 3d printing retinas using bacteria in orbit, dads a branch manager at nasa would be a colonel if he was military me I have developed a very keen understanding of space and an all consuming interest in what’s out there. Very interested in intelligence/gis type jobs as I have a keen interest in imagery analysis of earth moon and mars actually a passion so I know space force is for me.

    1. I’m enlightening in the SF and wanna know a little more about cyber security in the SF.
    2. Since I’m gonna be going into basic soon is there something I can do to stand out in a good way while I’m there? I’ve been working on becoming a better runner and more physically fit so hopefully that helps.

So listen the space force do they not pay the same way the other military's do? Like do you gotta pay for your medical & all that? I was reading on thier site like you get the same pay but not really any of the typical military benefits it was worded like you have to pay for a insurance which does give you the option of off base but at the same time, I've seen state & federal insurances before & typically they are really expensive & you still got high co-pays as well.

    • @TheNikeAirman

The only for sure way I know to get into the Space Force is joining through an organic space career. (which is a 1C6 Space System Operations) Any other job is a common job for now and won't get you straight into the Space Force. I'm not sure if you'll get the chance to transfer even if you have an applicable common career because I believe they've already selected current airmen that have applied. Hope this helps!

Do you know what the space force is going to do? Like, the purpose. While I dont know too much about the military and the branches (please forgive me and point out if Im assuming things or being rude/insensitive about anything) but from what I understand the Air Force is already doing things in the sky (which is part of space, in all technicalities?) And watching, protecting, and such correct? And there was the Air Force Space Command or something, correct? So is it just making a new branch from what was already there? And just bringing it more to the attention of others/the public? And why now, of all times?
Any ways, i think this is all still very cool! Just in general. I love space and all the stuff (want to be an astrophysicist possibly after high school graduation & university) but I am majorly curious about this.

    • @fraskie66

Think about it like this USSF is mostly Tech/Cyber related and deals with a lot of the satellites and warfare in "space" which would be preventing missiles from striking certain areas and satellites from being destroyed or tinkered with. It's not because the Government thinks we're about to be attacked by Aliens or something or UFO's are coming lol. Satellites control the majority of all our technology and if it were to be taken out by another Country/Government our infrastructure would be at extreme risk.

This, compared to what I had to go through seems like a complete joke (I am a US Marine). I understand that the USSF has no combative units or related jobs, so it makes sense that the basic training would be easy but it should still have a sense of urgency as with any other military branch within the United States Armed Forces. While saying this, I would like to admit that I do have a bit of interest joining the USSF and becoming a Space Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine), which would be a completely badass title to have. Maybe once IST for the USSF opens back up, I'll look into transferring lol. Quality of life compared to the Marine Corps seems a lot better.

@@thomasryan2679 You realize that is just a stereotype right??? Marines guard the President and all Nuclear weapons. Lmao...Marines don't have the lowest ASVAB scores either...lmao. when they recruit they are looking for a type of person along with the type of personality...Marines are Alpha...They all Train to be grunts...but have a specialty occupation on top of it...So not only do you have to know their primary job......They have to learn battle tactics ...I was Artillery...but I also had to train to be a grunt...Marines train and utilize small unit leadership...They fight wars on all fronts...land sea air...Your just an idiot...I bet you never even tried to go or wanted to go to the Military...

My son wants to go in the Air Force and wants to go into cyber security. I have been very supportive of that until watching this video. Specifically because of the iPad. The Idiot Pad and the Idiot Phone are just ridiculous. You would think that a military force of the United States that supposedly prides itself in technological superiority would use computers more advanced than a child's Leap Frog toy.

iPads and phones are literally computers. Many college students use iPads for class/notes etc. Their actual job/ job training will be on whatever computers you’re talking about.

I’m sorry but I just can’t past the fact that the instructor was literally laughing at the recruit😂🤦🏻‍♂️. It should be called space force summer camp not space force basic training.

I'm more interested in their ability to target smart weapons systems, relocate satellites, provide incoming early warning, disable enemy satellites, etc than whether or not they learned how to run around screaming all day.

This is indefensible. Anyone who served (maybe not within the past 5 years +/-), releasing this video is a spit in the face to those of us that actually did go through Boot... I dont care what branch you are, what Im seeing is inexcusable, its an embarrassment, the OIC who authorized this video should be relieved of his job, the flag officer who signed off on this "training" should be relieved of his job and humiliated in front of the other branches including the Space Force.
I'm at a total loss for words. Ive never seen anything like this in my life. This isnt even funny. These guys will be the ones tasked with overseeing the defense of space. ICBMs, comets, asteroids, what the actual fuck could happen if God forbid these "guardians" are dealing with a situation that is high stress and could mean the lives of millions of people??
    What the actual fuck??
Loss for words... I am at a total loss for words. What a fucking humiliation this is. This like something I'd expect to see from the Zimbabwean military or Haitian military, not the United States...
