Some of you may be interested in a different way of going about listening to and evaluating sampled instruments. That's fine! In this video the mod wheel will not be moving. That is because I am not listening for "interpretations of the legato scripting". I am listening for the legato transitions as scripted / recorded / programmed.
Consider: if the mod wheel or expression controller always MUST be moved quieter for a legato transition, are the transitions always or usually too loud? (Or vice versa of course; quieter/ louder.) Now, if you want to make them louder or quieter occasionally for expressive purposes, to emphasize certain transitions and de-emphasize other transitions, I say great!
Another reason to move the mod wheel during a legato transition is to correct for a scripting "mistake" or inconsistency. Also totally acceptable.
But from a software perspective, I evaluate packages based on how they sound without moving the mod wheel during legato transitions (as one exercise). Because that indicates to me how the transitions were scripted in the first place. This video is more about that evaluation. This video is neither an attempt to make gorgeous music, nor a tutorial for how to use these instruments.

Performance Samples produce the most beautiful legato tones, lushful and emotional. My kind of music : D

Vista is one of a kind, just so lively and heartwrenchingly beautiful.

CSS for its signature tone and convincing sound stage.

Thanks for this. Do you think Pacific will largely be able to do what vista does? I just got lass 3 because I love the sound and sunset for its ingenuity. I don't write much string stuff but I think I'm getting addicted to buying libraries.
I'm tempted to buy performance sample bass to qualify for Pacific loyalty intro. What are your expectations for Pacific? large classical leaning library only?

Pacific sounds a lot like Vista, only “larger” due to the increased size of the sections. It also has many more articulations than Vista including fx. And, if you get it in intro pricing, you will receive soloists for free. Many styles and genres, not only classical but also “epic” and trailer, and film scoring. It can be very quiet with whisper sustains or very loud with fff violins overlay.

Obviously Soaring strings beat everything for JW style of music. CSS is also great, just as Vista, but for things like the star wars strings you need THE sound, and Soaring Strings got THE sound, the others not.

MSS is the best scripting / programming library whatever. Vista is miles ahead in terms of expression !On the other hand that noise floor....keep struggling with that a bit

Have you tried any inexpensive denoise solutions such as Waves NS1 (often found for $29) or RX Elements from iZotope?
