What a heartwarming story. I used to watch the show Cops regularly & I can recall one episode where the police were called out to a house that was a constant problem in the neighborhood, drugs, fights, loud parties, drunks. A girl about 8 years old clung frantically to the female officer, sobbing & begging her to "take me with you, I want to go live with you." Totally broke my heart, this child was so bright & articulate & aware. Few children want to be removed from even the most horrific abuse, no matter how much it is in their best interest, they want to stay with their parents. But this kid knew she was not in a healthy environment---how wise. I hope that Child Protective Services was called & that they were able to find her a safe, loving home.
Yes, I believe the police officer's name was Ofr. Canada & she obviously was very touched by the little girl's pleas & would've probably gladly taken her but knew she couldn't. Hopefully that child who is now an adult was rescued & is living a good life now.
