I live in Silver Springs, Florida - looks very similar to your terrain! I want to free range my chickens so badly but I'm very reluctant because of owls and hawks!!? How do you get over this?
Its a gamble, I just have to stay out wirh them but even then sky predators will or can still swiop right on down. I let my roosters out all day every day and I know they can be gotten too but its not as rough or likely as it is with your hens. The roosters automatically patrol the sky and alert the hens, and the hens dont watch the sky like they do. Please ask anything I can probably help you
@@AMBERANGELSTRUTH I will thank you for your reply! My roosters are Polish, lol so I have heard that they are not quite as good as regular roosters are due to the feathers over their eyes ... I probably will wind up letting them go out only under supervision though but just never unattended. Do you clip their wings as well? Susanne

The roosters do for now but theres three hawks stalking so the hens dont go out unless i stay out with them. Thank you for your comment!

It came together over time. i set up to raise and sell but God took me a different direction, so now a few birds have a lot of room!! Win win!!

Where did you find a water base that connects to mason jars?
Those plastic bottoms at any place that sells chicken supplies. I suggest plastic, not metal ones though
I checked the tracker supply, and they didn't have large or small mouth screw on ones, Only plastic that go with their plastic tops.
