    As others have said - an extremely well made video - I ordered a new motor for my X4, and the replacement routine is very very similar. Do be sure that if its motor no 5471, that the belt you have fitted is no 5463. This info comes from an advisory sheet that came with the motor, and is dated 11.2011, so it may be a well known fact by now. An absolutely first class service from eSpares - it was ordered at 5.15pm one day, and with me by noon the next. Had the motor fitted and the cleaner back in action in just over three quarters of an hour, thanks to the video. Five stars!

    Thanks for posting this, I found it very helpfull. The problem I had with my Sebo X4 was motor bearing failure at the drive pulley side. I could not fathom out how to get the motor apart. It turns out that the two screws holding the motor together are located under the brush boxes, you have to remove these first. The pulley is screwed onto the shaft ( right hand thread ) , remove this then get a little puller on the bearing. I got a new bearing from my local engineering shop £ 4.20, rebuilt it and off like New again.

    Fun little fact, eSpares: Sebo makes a commercial model of the X1, called the Windsor Sensor XP. Windsor is Sebo's commercial brand.

    GREAT video and VERY helpful!BUT I had a nightmare getting the spade connectors out of the old brushes! The spade has a small barb on it which allows the spade to go into the fitting easily but not to come out. It was impossible to get a grip on the spade connectors using pliers, as suggested. It was possible to gently lever the spades partly out using a small screwdriver, and then getting a pair of long nose pliers on them, but no amount of pulling and wiggling them about would release them.In the end, the solution was to force a small screwdriver into the slot in the plastic which the spade goes into, pushing it down the side of the spade and then levering the spade out.

    Great help. I have a very original model bought back in 1995 and it has worked flawlessly. It has started to play up so I have taken it apart and the brushes were non-existent. The only issue is , they do not have spade terminals!! I am assuming that I will have to try to put terminals on the end of the wires.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      IF the brushes supplied are the same as in the video they have a spade blade pushed into the edge of their housing to connect them. If yours differ to what is on the machine and shown in the video fill in your details at the following link and we will try and identify the correct brush for your specific model:

    My wonderful plasterer vacuumed up some water after cleaning up plaster power. My X4 model now has an electrical burning smell. I have thoroughly cleaned it out but it still has a smell, the longer I use it. Speculation as to the cause? New motor needed per chance?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JulieJackson1 It is likely the plaster dust has stuck to the motor windings. When in use the air flowing through the cleaner is drawn passed the motor to cool it. The plaster coating will reduce the cooling and smell as it bakes on the windings. It may improve over time or cause the motor to pack in only time will tell.

    • @JulieJackson1
      @JulieJackson1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +eSpares Thanks for this. If it packs up, I'll know where to come for another motor. I thought I might need to buy a new vacuum. Thanks again.

    • @eSpares

      +Flying-Machine Check to see if the carbon brushes have worn down and are causing blackening on the motor armature. If they are in good condition you may need a new motor.

    hello. I just purchased a Sebo Essential G. I got a good price for it since it was the one on display at the store. Or i thought i got a good deal.... The suction on the power head is very minimal. The brush works fine. The handle suction is great. Or maybe this is what i should expect from this vacuum...?
    If you could give me any advice I would greatly appreciate it . I would like to get some honest feedback.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pamela, as the machine is new it is unlikely to be faulty and should not have a blockage. To check when running, if the motor noise changes much when you remove the hose or if the hose pulls strongly on to the machine it may indicate a blockage. If this is OK check the height is correctly adjusted for the surface you are cleaning.

    • @pamelapap
      @pamelapap 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you for the quick response.
      It is not brand new. The store I bought it from used it as a display to show to customers how it performs. I am not sure how long it was used as a display in the store.
      The motor noise does not change when I removed the hose. But i place my hand underneath the powerhead and it just seems like the suction is very weak. I have checked for any blockage and there was none. I am starting to think that maybe the store did sell me a faulty one.
      I also have a Shark and when I use that one I feel a pull from the suction being created by the power head but the Sebo does not do this at all.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you are covering the whole gap the suction will just pass through the gap. The biggest effect on suction is the gap between the head and surface hence why the height is important. Also compare the power of the two machines on the rating plate as this may show the difference in performance.

    • @pamelapap
      @pamelapap 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. I will try to compare and see how it goes. Thank you again for your response. I really appreciate it. ;-)

      eSpares Thanks for your swift response. In your opinion is it worth replacing these? My Hoover is about 12 years old. Also do you sell these parts as I can't seem to find them on your website and if so how much are they and is there an instructional video for replacing them?

      We do not have instructions or a video for this repair.

    In my Sebo X1 the head won't stay down. The controls just keep showing it going up and down. It never seals onto the floor. What could be the problem? I had to remove the height adjustment motor just to clean my house..

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you read the information in the manual: www.espares.co.uk/usermanual/download?userManualId=e5d331b3-447a-4b1d...
      You will see the automatic height is adjusted depending on the resistance of the brush roller against the floor covering. If you have deep pile carpets or the flooring is uneven the machine will keep adjusting until the brushes only lightly contact the surface so this may be normal.

    "washing up liquid"
    XD

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael G A little washing up liquid is often used to allow rubber materials to slip. Without some form of lubrication if the rubber grips on to the housing it can result in the rubber mount twisting and not seating evenly. This can not only make reassembly difficult but can cause damage and distortion. The washing up liquid should be used sparingly and will soon dry up. :-)
