- Behind-the-scenes footage of the theme to the AppleTV+ epic series, Foundation. The score is performed by a live orchestra, combined with an “algorithm orchestra” playing virtually impossible fragmented phrases.

This intro is so good that my boyfriend and I never clicked on "skip intro" when watching Foundation, not once
I can't pretend to understand the melody, but what a hypnotically beautiful orchestra, and such deeply-fulling epic orchestration.
Dune and Foundation adaptations in the same year? What a way to make quarantine that much more manageable. (Just found a copy of Foundation to read too :D)

The amazing part is Dune was written as a retort to Foundation. Foundation is "preserve the future against the fall and the Mule". Dune was written as "What if the Mule was the hero?". It's fitting both adaptations come out in the same year.

I don’t want to go as far as saying it’s a “departure” from his previous work, but I do love the fact you can tell Bear is loving the opportunity to stretch (and flex!) in the score for this show. It’s SO damn good, and such a fantastic fit. I can only imagine that David S. Goyer’s list only had one name on it, and he’d be right too!

Bear McCreary is an absolutely legendary composer. Not only is this mind-bogglingly awesome, but the soundtrack for _Rings of Power_ is also absolutely fantastic.

Did not know you had written music for this. Foundation was a favorite book of mine when I was younger, can't imagine someone better to score the adaptation.
I just finished episode five... This is epic. Absolutely in love with the music already.

listen to this song very carefully. This is Demerzel's melody. Listen, and you will follow Demerzel's character and her life path. it is a lullaby and a requiem in one melody. Birth, education, formation, departure and death. Demerzel is one of the deepest characters in the series.
She’s mother, she’s teacher, she’s a Grey Cardinal.

Ah, every time i like a series music it almost without exception is a work of Bear mcCreary. I wasn't entirely sure when i first heard it because it has almost John Williams-like orchestral themes. It gives the opening music cinematic proportions. Wonderful piece.

Not sure that will happen given that Amazon bought MGM which owns Stargate. But you can hope for a new series powered by Amazon, which is actually pretty likely.

Hey Mr Bear McCreary, I just finished season one of this, Bit of a long-time fan of your work, Your musical progression from BSG to Foundation is awe-inspiring, The themes are so strong in both, and you managed to create that sense of scale across time with this one, much the same as BSG had that travelling across the vastness of space, I dunno, I don't have the flow of words to express it, but I think your work here is wonderful. An absolute masterpiece, in every fundamental aspect: composition, arrangement, production. The melody and counterpoint in the first 16 bars are marvellous, the sound engineering is impeccable.
Bear, I want you to know I am watching Foundation JUST for your music in it.

One of my goto tracks and albums. As epic as the show is, this score matches it. I am reminded of how Basil Poledouris raised up Conan the Barbarian to a new level.
Bear McReary is one of those few composers that's can make me watch a show or movie just to hear the music in it's intended setting.

Oddly this reminds me of the "His Dark Materials" opening theme song from the HBO show.
It's in C minor but borrows chords from outside of the key like Db major, Db minor, Db major 7th, Db minor 6th, and Ab minor add9, and then he ends it on a thrilling Ab major chord, which feels both satisfying and unresolved at the same time. Pretty clever writing, and definitely more harmonically interesting than most theme songs I hear on most TV shows.

Wish we could get a piano score reduction (hint...hint). I would gladly purchase it in heartbeat. I rarely watch the introduction of a show. This is one I watch the introduction on every time, specifically because the music is amazing. I want to play it though. Been looking through your page and wanting to take your melody with chords and come up with something, but I would definitely love to get what the composer believes he feels is the most important in a reduction (hint hint again :) Either way, Fantastic composition.
Every time I am blown away by a musical score, there he is; Bear. One of the best composers of our time. I fell in love with your music when you did Battlestar Galactica and you just continue to impress.

This sounds like the kind of thing Jerry Goldsmith would compose if he were still alive today.
I'm not sure. He would probably lean more towards standard orchestral colours and less orchestral library sounds.
