I've done this before, but at the San Jacinto Monument area. PLENTY of ship traffic. Benches to sit on, very peaceful. Wish they would put up a live cam there. It was really great.
the gas capricorn must be a regular, because i went to Galveston about a year ago, and guess who i saw there, her majestic black and white ship herself, the gas capricorn.
There use to be a real good restaurant right down there by the water called The Point a long time ago. Watching the ships go by as I ate my food. I miss that place.
That is what I originally thought but I see many ships doing the same thing but they are incoming from Ocean travel. I could still be a washing procedure but ???
It is used to clean off the anchor chain and anchor of mud, collected from the sea bed. Fancier/newer ships have built in high pressure water jets in there hawsepipe (pipe that leads over the side) that spray the anchor down, on older ships it might be a small team of guys with a firehose.
Sweet vid. Curious, if there is ever any issues with Law Enforcement? I know plane spotting buddies often have run-ins with local police and security in and around airports and railfanners have their share of encounters, what about ship spotting, any problems there?
+cameraman655 It Depends Where You Shipspot.. I Like Doing It At Public Places Like Piers And Beaches. Unless There Is A Special Cargo or Navy Ship Will There Be Law Enforcement Possibly Stopping You in Public Places.

shipspotting looks remarkably similar to shitpositng but, I'm not here by accident
Large ships, large water. Nice video. 😀‼️ I am traveling on smaller rivers. Shipspotting in Europe.

+Darryl Bonds they could have been anchored out of the channel or port before coming in.
Very Good! Your are most likely correct. I had not thought of that but it is true many vessels have to wait their turn for docking times. DUH
Why do some ships discharge water out of the anchor locker?
+Darryl Bonds im pretty sure its to wash the anchor
