This is from the May 1, 2000 episode of Millionaire on ABC. David Duchovny is the first person on the first Celebrity edition and he's playing for the East Harlem Schools at Exodus House charity.
I remember watching this and being amazed and yet stunned as well that he seemed so calm winning $250,000, and then just blew it all away the next question.
@@jjmcwill1881 Not sure why you'd think that's "stupid" or hard to believe - he literally made around that amount for _every single episode_ of the X-files he did, and there were over 200 of them, lol. He'd also already done the X-files movie in '96, which was a pretty big success (looking it up, it made nearly $200 million). Just doing rough math, he prob had something like $30 to $40 million to his name in 2000, and knew he was a big enough star to be in demand after the X-files.
@@WWTBAMclassics Hello there. Now, this is something I wanted to ask you about, so here it is: After seeing that you have the episodes of the first celebrity edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, do you have any of the celebrity episodes with Mick Foley and Meredith Vieira? Let me know. Sincerely, Curtis.
@@WWTBAMclassics All right. Well, aside from that, I don't know how many Celebrity episodes you've got or not, but I'm looking forward to seeing more episodes of classic Millionaire!
It almost seems like Duchovny is getting a little bit ticked that Regis called him MULDER like 5 times and then razzed him for being in a terrible movie? *below the belt* lol
I remember my mother and brother were talking about this episode and they thought David Duchovny was being a jerk when he asked Regis if they could turn off the suspense music.
As much as Duchovny was at fault for answering a question FOR CHARITY valued so highly so quickly, Regis shouldn't have been so quick to ask "final answer."

At the time, some celebrities still were unfortunately political such as Lewinsky (part of a presidential scandal) and Maher (who I found out had a late night show on ABC at the time).
David‘s laugh is so beautiful and contagious
18:11 "Sorry it was Witness."
"Oh..."
"Ohh!!"
"It was Witness."
Knowing Hank Moody, I'm not surprised he was the first to win the fastest finger contest
He lost $218,000 ouch
@fornitegood122jr That was too bad for Duchovny. I wished he became a half a millionaire. But he was such a great contestant no matter what. 👍

A very noble charity especially for a celebrity
But his net worth is 80$ millions so…
David really is cool! Knowledgeable and cool.
Absolutely agree with you 💯
I remember laughing at the celebrity edition. Nobody was taking it serious. All in good fun! lol
SO handsome!
David goes well with that Spooky music 😄
Yeah, even Gillian Anderson would find that hilarious.
@@usamazahid3882SPOOKY DUCHOVNY MULDER 😂
He always looks really handsome but for some reason I find him so attractive here
I agree. Maybe because he isn't being Mulder. Mulder always looks worried/concerned/puzzled, but David is happy and exudes sexuality.
I never realized this before, but the theme music of Who Wants to be a Millionaire sounds sort of like an upbeat rendition of the X-Files theme.
I remember watching this and being amazed and yet stunned as well that he seemed so calm winning $250,000, and then just blew it all away the next question.
he was on cocaine 100%
he could easily make up the 218k out of his own pocket for the charity, and I'm sure he did
@@markymark443 Why would you think something so stupid? He's not giving Away 200k
@@jjmcwill1881
Because celebs have matched what they got up to when they lost before dumbass.

I remember watching this when it first aired only for David 🌹and I didn’t bother with anyone else lol

I've been looking for this forever. I didn't remember him messing up! Also, WOW that was a AAA celebrity lineup at thetime!
It almost seems like Duchovny is getting a little bit ticked that Regis called him MULDER like 5 times and then razzed him for being in a terrible movie? *below the belt* lol
It also seems like Regis is annoyed with him too
Omg ya. Regis is always annoying... He didn't "get" DDs subtle humour, dry wit and funny sarcasm. David is great!
The other contestants started looking intimidated as David got more higher and higher up the ranks.
Only to win $32,000.
The Duomo question is easy if you remember THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991).
Tea leoni is so funny!
ofcourse he's gonna call his wife when it comes to architecture
Where did that first bit come from with Dana Carvey? Love it!
He really screwed everything in the end 😂😂😂

that was clearly a joke

When it’s a high echelon of money never go with the obvious answer.
Where can I find the full episode of Dana carvey as Regis Philbin?
Were you able to find the episode?

Dana Carvey stealing the show. I hope he gets to play! I’m on the first of several of these so we will see lol

If only he did that for Norm Macdonald
What should he have done? Wait? What for if he didn't know the answer anyway...

Yep...it *is* Dana Carvey...I have a newspaper article about it.
Dana Carvey's intro stint is kinda making me think of Pistachio Disguisey as Regis.

I said that once when I was in the hot seat at the old Disney attraction, but I think the host/audience thought I was being serious...oops!
