    I just got my first " Royal aqua master" double hose regulator! Gonna send it to VDH for an upgrade and can't wait to dive with it. Just love double hose regs

    Hey Jonathan. I just bought my first DHR (a Kraken) and it's on the way. I can't wait to dive it ! I currently dive an older Oceanic Side vent regulator just for less bubbles, but the idea of ALL the bubbles behind the head has me stoked ! You were the one who inspired me to start this new adventure. Thank you. You are a true inspiration.

      Sweet! Let me know how you like it. Remember to wear it low so its at about the height of your lungs. Performance is better if its not too high. I love mine.

    Ah! Thank you Johnathan! I had a hunch that that was the reason for the double hose reg. That does give you some real advantages for photography! (And yes it sure makes it easy to find you!! I think U.S. Divers (Aqualung) was making the double hose again for a while, too. With the exhaust at your back that may be less scary for the residents when we come to visit too. And of course you won't need to do the arm slide to find your reg - Its right there! I think its a good compromise between a re-breather and a single hose of you have skittish residents. Thanks again! See you on the bottom!

    Just bought a double hose regulator from Vintage, called the Kraken Argonaut...I love it the sound of the bubbles going by my ears really was annoying, now hearing them muffled exhausting behind my head is wonderful, I can hear the sounds going on in the ocean...And it has all the necessary ports for inflator hose, safe second, HP for tank pressure...Love it!

      That's what I'm using now too. Great regulator.

    Hi Jonathan, I just found your show and I love it. I have a question. Why don't you guys run Rebreathers? You have zero bubbles and the bubbles don't scare the fish away.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We used rebreathers a lot in the first season. We find them difficult to travel with and they don't really add much production value to the show for the type of subjects we normally shoot--just a big pain in the neck.

    Hi Jonathan, great video on the double hose, I have the new Aqualung mistral which I use for backup when diving travel. Are you planning on doing a video on a rebreather too?

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used a Mistral for a while but switched to the VDH when I tried it because it breathes better and it's lighter for travel. I am sort of through my rebreather phase.

    • @RoyJNg
      @RoyJNg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BlueWorldTV Hey Jonathan, just to let you know, I spoiled myself and got the VDH, you're right, breathes better and now I use it for my travel instead of lugging the Evolution Rebreather around. Hope to bump into you in the future and maybe we can go diving go together in the future.

    I’m going to get me one of those!’ I wore my GoPro on my mask one day and the the footage was garbage because of the bubbles. With this double hose regulator I can put my GoPro on the mask and have my hands totally free.Thank you for making this video .

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But you need to keep your head really still or the video is not very good. Your head is not really a very good place for a camera if you want good video.

    Hi Jonathan. My name is James, I am 16 years old and from Australia. I am a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, and have been diving for over 3 years. In order to go diving more often, I will need to purchase my own scuba gear and am not sure about my choice of regulators. I am leaning towards buying a double hose regulator because I love the idea of bubbles not being in my face every time I exhale (plus I am also a massive Sea Hunt fan) Two quick questions for you;
    a) If I decide to buy a double hose regulator, which one would you recommend? (and what website would I buy it from?)
    b) How would I go about attaching a dive computer, BC hose and octopus, and what ones will work best with the double hose?
    If you could give me an insight that would be great.
    P.S. I absolutely LOVE Blue World and have made it part of my daily routine to watch at least one episode before doing my homework. Keep up the great work :)

      You want to buy an Argonaut Kraken from Vintage Doublehose. The Argonaut is a brand new regulator that they manufacture and has connections for all the stuff that any modern reg has (inflator hose, pressure gauge, etc.)

    Hey Jonathan. I finally got my Kraken underwater, first in my folks pool though to test it out. I love it ! I'm really surprised they aren't more popular ! That bubble free vis is great, and the rig itself is so comfortable. I have a Zeagle Ranger BC which works perfectly, as the bottle rides a little lower below the shoulders, thus placing the reg low for good performance. This makes me want to take pictures now ! lol. So, question.....should a beginner buy something like a GoPro type or a standard camera ? I know nothing about cameras, especially what's good for a beginner. Would you recommend the NAUI/PADI Underwater Photographer courses vs learning as I go ? I'm sure there's more to it than I'm familiar with. Any advice you could give would be great. Thanks again.

      Hey Scott, feel free to send me an email and I can give you a few suggestions. Congratulations on the Kraken! It's a great reg. Once you start shooting video you will really appreciate not having bubbles up your face constantly!

    Hi Jonathan. Big fan!. I would love to get my hands on a kraken, but I am struggling to find one... or any modern of dual hose regulator for that matter. What to do?

    • @BlueWorldTV

      Unfortunately the man who ran Vintage Doublehose (Bryan Pennington) passed away. So I think the Kraken production is gone forever.

    Jonathan should you think about using a ccr (rebreather)

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used rebreathers a lot in the first season of the show, and honestly I got tired of traveling with it. For some dives where you really need extended dive time or no bubbles, there is a need for a rebreather, but for about 99% of the dives we do, it's just a huge hassle with no real benefit.

    How do you usually rinse your double hose reg after a dive or after a dive trip? :) gonna dive with my first twin hose on the next dive.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You remove the hoses from the regulator, then remove the mouthpiece from the hoses and rinse it all out. I just hang the hoses and let them drip dry. My friend Luis has a small vacuum cleaner and he connects the blower part (not the suction part) to the hoses and runs it for a few minutes to blow dry them quickly. Either way works. The key is that you take them apart because otherwise they won't dry on the inside and you don't want to get mold in there. I only do this at the very end of a dive trip. During the dive trip I just rinse them every day and leave them attached to the regulator.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cesar Villar Yes, you can take it out. It's just a little more wrk to clear any water that gets in the exhaust hose.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Térance Sinnathamby My double hose regulator of choice these days is a VDH Kraken. Before that I was using the one in this video, the VDH "Phoenix" Royal Aquamaster. For cave diving with single hose regs, I use ScubaPro Mk 25.

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mimich Boss Not oxygen, just compressed air. It is filled with a super powerful air compressor just like one that fills car tires except to a much higher pressure. Car tires are filled to around 35 PSI and scuba tanks to about 3,000 PSI.
