It seems it would be better to connect the LED inverted, with the positive side connected to Vcc and the negative side to the data0 pin, since the data line is normally pulled up when not operating. That way the LED will only light up when the SD card is being read or written to, and would be easier to see in my opinion.
I want to see this tested, if this works its just the thing I want. My SD have been corrupted multiple times even tho I always make sure to count slowly to 5. What pins would this be?
@@makho Sorry, i don't own a Ez Flash, it was more of a suggestion. But I believe the value of the LED resistor should be lower, maybe 1K or lower just for test. Hum, I will try to test this on some other SD interface I have around...
@Melvin Maas so you soldered inverted led and it turns on only during save? I have a 2.0-2.4V led and 3k 1/2 watt 5% resistor. I don't know what it means but I'm ready to try if sounds OK on paper :)
I still dont understand how people don't take 5 seconds to read the manual, or even the listing for the thing. The listing I bought mine from literally said you needed to wait after saving and yet somehow so many people complain that it doesnt work.
It’s only expensive when you compare it to the Omega. It’s actually the realistic price when you consider the Omega can corrupt you SD card. It’s more of you get what you paid for.
Everdrive GBA X5 is significantly better for that reason already. You don't have to wait for the cart to save before shutting the gba off. Still don't understand why people go for the EZ Flash when the new Everdrive gba is now sized like a regular gba cart.
Manual says 5 seconds after save but you actually don't know exactly when the game is saving, at least when using GOOMBA; I've corrupted my GB/GBC saves several times and I had waited 5 secs everytime I save, some people told me the emulator will save again once you open the menu to exit and some other workarounds but I'm not sure I'll invest play time in a game after knowing the progress can be randomly corrupted anytime.
i was very skeptical about getting an EZ flash Omega because i had seen so many people having corrupted save issues. i made sure i followed the directions very very carefully and I made sure to get a trustworthy brand of SD card. I'm happy to say I've had no issues with it so far, but I've only used it a couple days. my only complaint is that i can't find the pink shell for it anywhere 😭
It's nowhere near as bad as some people will have you believe. Since you've already read the instructions, you're leagues ahead so I think you'll be fine. I've had mine since the launch and I've had zero issues as well, even after I modified it.
how about friend, a question do you sell that EZFlash Omega that you modified in the video? or how much does an EZFlash Omega cost me so I ate the one you made? I am from Mexico, I hope you can answer my questions. Thank you
You think it’s possible to reduce the 150ma power consumption to something lesser? Am no electrician 😂 but put something inline with the power pad coming from the GBA card slot (on the ez-flash) so bring the draw down?
@@makho diode or resistor so when it draws power from the BBA pin it will be reduced. Bit like how the battery mod and the diode to drop the voltage down to 3.4v. The uSD slot on the JR has the contacts on teh bottom. Soldering to the correct pins will be much more difficult unless you trace them out to whichever IC manages the interface.
I really don't like the idea of soldering directly to the MicroSD slot. There's gotta be a better way to do this. It would be really nice if an LED were simply included in the design of the product. Does the Definitive Edition Omega have an access LED? I sure hope so.

No, there are just other cases available. Red, blue, green, orange, pink, and full clear are (were) available to change from the default smoke case. Some colors are a lot harder to get than others. Green, full clear, and pink were reviewer only colors, then pink got a second limited run. Orange, red, and blue are the only colors you can get regularly now I believe.
Are you aware of the new EZFlash Jr. flashcart for GB/GBC that came out a few weeks ago? Mine arrived 2 days ago and I was able to test it a little bit. I also have the EZFlash Omega which really impressed me when it came out. The EZFlash Jr. is nowhere that good. It works, but has a lot of issues. You can't have more than 90 roms in a folder or it will get file system errors and crash. This still happens after I sorted my Roms into alphabetical folders. Sometimes it hangs after detecting the SD card when powering on. Also the navigation menu is quite slow. Compared to the Omega this thing is pretty bad and even compared to my 5 year old Everdrive GB (per X3/5/7) it doesn't look good. It loads faster but still has way too many bugs.
@@PLATESWEEPER Unfortunately no. As described in my previous post this thing has a lot of issues. At least my cart has, maybe it is a faulty unit. It works, just not reliably. However it only costs half as much as the cheapest Everdrive so it might be an option.

im having issues with my ez flash omega while playing both metroid zero mission and fusion, any time i save using the L-R and Start buttons when i load the game crashes or glitches i lose sound, the picture gets fuzzy or the picture will freeze altogether. is anyone else having this issue or something like it? it doesn't happen with GBC.GB or NES so i dont think its my sd card. im not really sure what the issue is or how to remedy it. i would really really appreciate the help please and thank you all in advanced
You should also be using flux when soldering the resistor and LED. There is really no reason not to use the Noclean Flux on each and every solder point to help adhesion.
Ppl who have ran into this issue honestly only have themselves & their own impatience to blame for this problem. Just wait 10 seconds at least before shutting off your system and you won't have this problem. It's always safer to give it extra time rather than being in a rush.
Those wires are WAY WAY WAYYYYYY too long! You really ought to shorten them significantly. I really don't know why you used such long wires for this. That is not a good thing to do. You want the shortest wire runs as possible when doing stuff like this.
