Its not below the Yaks because gaijin is most likely gonna reserve it for naval jets like Su-33 & Su-34. They arent gonna place it below the MiG-27 because its also very likely thats where they gonna place the Su-24. Which leaves the only remaining spot below the Su-17's Im not 100% sure if the Su-25 line is gonna stay as pure Su-25 line, because theres like 1-2 more Su-25 and thats it, they could possibly reserve it for Su-30 & Su-35 in the future.
Idk if you have now realised but the 'enemy' between 11:26 and 12:15 was 100% the first missile you fired. Explains why the R27ET couldnt get a lock :)
Hey Tim, just a quick correction. Noticed you called the S-13 rockets S-130. Understandably, considering an “O” really does look like a “0”. If you were wondering, the “O” in Russian military nomenclature stands for Осколочный, which translates to Fragmentation.
This has always been one of the most lovely jets ever constructed (to my eyes), and the only plane i actually feared back in my Jane's US Navy Fighters days!
Yak line is either going to become the Mig25/Mig31 line, or its going to be the prototype line, taking the strange vehicles from Suhkoi or Mig that couldnt be in the normal lines but be good additions where needed. Just my thoughts

Nice review I didn't get a chance to pull it up on the dev server but did the F-15 and the Baz which is pretty much the same exact thing. You gotta luv when they throw out an update that half the nations get the same exact vehicle either slightly better or slightly worse. But hey the Isral tech for tanks looks like its being moved around again with the M113A1 TOW and Rochev being added. Pluus that German Leopard 2A7V is it supposed to be a glowing blue color They were saying back in 2022 that the 2A7V was supposed to have the best protection in the world but I'm sure that's not gonna happen in WT cause that T-90M seems like it might have that on lockdown because it seems there is not many spots it can be penetrated especially with a shell with over 600mm of pen.
The su27 is prob under the su17 cause they're planning on putting the su33 under the yak141 since it's a naval fighter. Also for anyone wondering the full fuel load in the su27 lasts about 12 and a half minutes on burner
The radar and IRST seem totally different from any other jet I've used in game. I'm constantly flailing around in battle trying to figure out what and why it's suddenly switching targeting modes, for example, when I asked it to lock a target or something.
0:24 i heard it was actually an su27sk, which would indeed be a post soviet model of flanker, and having the russian flag would be correct. i’m not entirely sure on how accurate that is, but that’s what i’ve heard from some other dudes who are knowledgeable on the subject
The Su-17s should be put in the right hand strike jet line. Su-27 is fine where it is, it should not be in Yak line, and Yak does have open more craft to be added, the Yak-130.
I don't find that the performance ratio from fuel weight in a large fighter like the su27 or f14 is any different than a light fighter, a lighter fighter loaded with fuel will suffer about the same performance hit
I have a theory on why the Su-27 is under the Strike fighters instead of the Yak. -- I'm bettin' they're reserving the Yak line for the Navy Fulcrum/Flankers

Su-33 is the carrier version of the Su-27. It has canards can hold 12 missiles ( I think) and has more lift and more powerful engines. The first Sukhoi aircraft with thrust vectoring is the Su-30, which is a twin seat multirole version of the Su-27.
The placement of the Su-27 in the tt makes sense to me. The line on the left with the Yak-141 is now more of a naval fighter line and they will turn the Su-17 line into a Sukhoi fighter line, they can always add other (Sukhoi) bomber's/ground attackers behind the Su-25T or even MiG-27's
to me it was always simple yaks go in the yak tree migs go in the mig tree sukhois go in the sukhoi tree and bombers and attackers are banished to their own trees
it doesnt thrust vector irl or in war thunder. it is however supermaneuverable, but i imagine the game toned it down because the real vehicle can easily tear itself apart at any speed higher than 800kph
There's no missile that could be suitable for stock top tier russian jets besides R-73. R-60 is too bad. There's no russian missile that is better than R-60 but worse than R-73 as they didn't develop R-13 further unlike China with their PL-5B and C.

the R73 works for everyone except me. never resistant to flairs , loses lock, switches to friendly target and goes into a spin when pulling over 25G turns. its fucking trash.
Flare resistances works at close range It just shrinks the FOV down really small to 0.75... for comparison R-60's FOV is like 5 or 6 FOV So the closer the range the better flare resistance... especially if rear aspect

The F15 gets not the Real life weapons load it is able to carry and just SARH missiles while the Su27 gets all missiles and nice self guided ones flying Mach 1.8 Mach faster than the sparrows… it’s just gaijin and they love to protect Russian power into their game by nerfing the us into the ground… while IRL you can watch what a Su27 an do in Ukraine…

I dont know where you saw that, but every print source I have (roughly a dozen that cover the Flanker) gives 1985 as the introduction year.

The R-60M is even remotely as good as the AIM-9L. I pretty regularly get my AIM-9Ls to ignore flares but that almost never happens with the R-60M.

the 6 ER's it has will completely dominate the f15 in BVR, it's RWR is still pretty decent as well since it does inform you of launches just fine
