- Myself and 2 friends are going bikepacking on the King Alfred Way, starting in Winchester. We are going to to wild camp on the first night, so have no pressure on how far we need to ride. The weather is fine, so what could possibly go wrong?

Always check inner tyre for thorns.
If you don't you are guaranteed to the tyre will go flat again.
I always carry a small pair of pliers and soft sand paper.
If you pull out 80% of the thorn you can then sand the rest off smoothly and it won't puncture the inner tube again.
Great vid and KAW isn't a easy route especially if it's been raining.
It was schoolboy error not checking the tyre, but sure Matt was carrying pliers & sand paper, he had everything else!

Always thought I was doing a good job of keeping my MTB clean and after two years I had a similar experience with my jockey wheel being all gunked up like that. Cleaned it up along with the chain and now I make the effort to maintain it as well. Bike certainly runs better. Great video fellas!
I’ve since had the bike serviced. They told me they were the dirtiest jockey wheels they had ever seen!

Bit strange that, King Alfreds round table 🤔. Definitely a trip to take your time & have fun on bikes with mates.

What bikes were you on?
I was on a Giant XTC, the others were on a Scott Scale & a Cube I think (it’s since been stolen, so can’t confirm the model)
