My goodness! Thank you so very much for being open with this knowledge! I just started my antique booth three weeks ago and I've felt very green. You've added to my confidence and have inspired me with ideas. Thank you for reminding me that it is okay to start small.
Thank you for the video! I am looking into opening my first booth and this is great information for beginners. Totally true antique booths are not a get rich quick scheme and you have to keep a revolving door of inventory to see success.
Great information, and I can tell you are enthusiastic too. I had a booth for a year. Just as I was picking up steam. My husband insisted I close it. I was very sad. But in the mean time I have built up much more inventory, because I am an upcycling, antique addict. So, your videos are inspiring. I'll be getting a booth very soon, but in a better location than before.
Great info. At my antique mall I see a lot of things you pointed out, especially dirty items! It is gross and thing don't sell like that! Good advise, keep it coming!
Amazing down to earth advice for new and old in the business. Thanks for taking the time to help others, Kay. A must veiw for newbies! Hope all is better with your doodle bug and that the rest of your family and yourself dont catch it. TFS!
I started a antique booth in Oct. 2014, I do just toys since Oct to Jan. I've sold over $1000,i do hit the thift stores and yard sales once a week to keep adding items, and it is true add items under $5 and less that will pay your booth rental.
I like your toy specialization - good for all! Yes, the smalls are definitely the bread and butter - and the big items are the fancy dinners :-) Thanks for watching and commenting!
great video great advice! I've been an antique collector for a while and a crafter also and I'm going to start selling my stuff this video gave me some great tips!
Oh, I wanted to add that I had good sales selling my shelves and other display pieces. Everything was for sale. It has always bugged me when iems in a booth are NFS (NOT FOR SALE).
I am sure many upscale antique malls are great and also a lot of fun. Several I have been in have a distinct air of intimidation for a novice reseller though. Did you start out in this venue or move up when you become more experienced? I am just curious, I am glad for your comment :-)
The first mistake is selecting the WRONG antique mall. Here is a good list of ten questions to ask BEFORE you become a tenant, not after, unless you are doing this as a hobby or a tax write off! Then, it doesn't matter. But if you want to make money, review this slide show! Link here: www.slideshare.net/WatchOutTheyComing/antique-malls
Hello, Great job, I hope your child feel better. I have a question. I have a website, I've been in open since 2/1/11 and I haven't sold to much.I'm thinking of closing. What is your opinion.Should I or not. Thank You
+Shelby Dennis Typically some shelves will already be in place, but it depends on the antique mall. Stands and display cases etc. is usually something you bring yourself. But sometimes previous booth owners will let you have their for free or for a good price. I always like adding small shelf units that are also for sale. Cheers, MM
I sell a lot of glass bottles, all kinds really, including new ones, corked or not. I have also sold a lot of postcards, but mainly during summer. Also toy cars, like matchbox cars that I put in grab bags in a basket. What about you?
Well, I think you might start out with a bit of a handicap, but if the rent is not too bad, give it a shot! I would advise you to also put your name on the list for a *regular* space as well since they are a bit easier to manage and sell in. Also, be sure to study the fellow locked cases - people who sell in cases are often masters of various display techniques. It's all about the *bling* factor so that customers will want to open the case. Good luck - let me know if you need any other tips!
Some malls will not let u have items under 20$. They charge 15 percent plus a mim of 2.50 soft in the back of the store and they reserve the right to take things out or put others stuff to Design the store . It is very stressful to keep up with your inventory
Very helpful. Thank you. A hang-up of this wannabe is collecting sales tax. But I've learned that the stores do that--and the online markets do the same. I learned from you that dealers get some off (10%). I'm wondering if there is an Attaboy board (get list) that dealers give to producers (crafters / finders) for items they want to sell? I would be interested in making things (signs, driftwood art) for sellers. dancaglecustompainting.com
It may be you and the area your from. I'm from the south but also lived in Maine for 10 years. When I was there, many people couldn't understand much of what I said for a while just because of the accent. I also have found myself interpreting visiting "yankee" accents for locals. I personally find her English very clear and I usually have a hard time interpreting non-US accents. Hope it improves for you. She is charming and the info is great.

Please tell me more about grab bags. Are they open or clear bags so the customer can see whats inside?
Thank you for your tips. I agree with you on all of your tips. To me this is all common sense, quantity, cleanliness, affordable.
Excellent Information, very helpful! Going to watch again and take notes! Thanks
Thank you for the nice comment! I love both selling online and in a physical space, and it widens one's hunting options :-)

Texas Gal Treasures Any time, Texas Gal!
I'm loving this series! I had a sick little one this week, too. That's never fun.
I get a lot of questions that this video can help answer. Let me know if you have anything to add :-)

What do you put in your grab bags?
we have a very upscale Antique Mall...we call it Antiques & Uniques, and we are not snobs, we have very little rules, and we have so much fun.

I sell on Ebay, but I just rented a cabinet in a mall. Thanks for this video.
Great series...really enjoying it...do you ever have problems with shop lifting from your booth??
How do you know who's item is who? Especially when there are so many sellers and you are not there. How does that work? Do you put your own tags on?

+Queen City Picker Glad you found it useful :-) Cheers, MM
When you first move into a booth do you have to bring all your own shelves, bookcases, stands etc. or are some already there?

Nice tips, thanks.
What other smalls sell well for you, besides coffee cups?

Mad Maine I haven't had a booth long enough to really notice a trend.

Yes, every booth has its own number, so on every price tag, you also put your booth number :-)

and yet, 7 yrs. later, this boomer learns something new...
How your little one is feeling better! Nothing worse than the stomach flu. :-(
I do not criticise... but is her voice a little difficult to understand or is it me?
