- Shane Gillis is in studio for a one-on-one conversation with Adam. They begin by talking about how woke culture is destroying comedy, and then flash back to Shane’s upbringing and how he eventually got to audition for Saturday Night Live. From there they talk about the excitement of joining the cast, followed by the surprise of getting ‘cancelled’ four days later. They also discuss the shift in people who are censoring others, keeping in touch with Lorne Michaels, and supporting the people who were unnecessarily cancelled. As the conversation wraps up, they talk about the importance of being able to say what you want as a comedian, and Shane’s love of performing standup.

Shane is probably my favorite comic right now. Gilly and keeves has made me laugh harder and more consistently than any sitcom I’ve ever seen.
Hoping Theo vons standup special coming out in October is killer, It would be nice to have some good comedians again.

I gotta be honest. When I first heard of Shane Gillis it was when he got kicked off the show and I pretty much dismissed him as a nobody. Because most of the people that SNL hires suck, so I assumed he just sucked like them. This dude is absolutely hilarious. His TH-cam special is off the charts funny.

@@charliedillon1400 I don’t think Burr fits the format at all. He’s very conversational and doesn’t do accents outside of his screechy woman accent. He could have definitely done better but it was never going to be like his style of comedy.

The vegetarian analogy Carolla used in the start of the show was absolute genius.
That example actually comes from the economist Nassim Taleb, in his article “The Most Intolerant Wins: The Dictatorship of the Small Minority.” In it he writes, “It suffices for an intransigent minority -a certain type of intransigent minorities -to reach a minutely small level, say three or four percent of the total population, for the entire population to have to submit to their preferences.” He also specifically uses the example of vegetarians, which I’m imagining is where Adam got it from. If you’re interested in the subject it’s a great read.
I think it is further painted by what he talks about further. It isn't even the vegetarians pushing the issue. The person in charge with the best of intention ensures there is a veggie option, but doesn't evaluate how many need to be provided. So in the end you order say 5 types of sandwiches vegan, kosher, halal,
blt, and a turkey club at 20 each when the population you are serving is 90 people without dietary restriction that prefer the turkey club or blt, 5 vegans, 3 jews, and 2 Muslims. Why are 60% of the sandwiches ordered targeted at 10% of the population. Maybe just order 10 veggie, 5 kosher, and 5 halal. I'm sure 10 people in the 90 will be fine having to settle for that option vs the other option of 50 people having to just deal with it.

Its refreshing to watch an interview where the host isnt trying to out-bit the guest.
I've known who Carolla was since the late 90s but this is the first time I'm watching his show. Gillis has that kind of stroke right now. Real comedy with no bullshit.
Shame is the best comic in the game. His pod with Matt McCusker is a slam dunk every week.
