To be honest, I often use my knife for basic things like cutting suckers for cut baits when fishing, using the knives for butchering, and simple cutting tasks (opening packages, cutting duct tape, etc.).

I saw this knife reviewed by Junkyard Fox. Love the design. I’ve been looking for a good knife that can hold up to camping/bushcraft chores, but still skin well. It’s a fantastic design. I’ve always trusted your reviews. You’ve never let me down. Have high hopes for this knife. Ordering one ASAP. Keep on keepin’ on.
Every time I look at one of those knives, I can't help but think they'd look real good in a kitchen. Not that it's a bad thing, it's a testament to their versatility.
My only problem with the Bushbat was the handle.... too many cops would see it as a threat... it dosen't matter what the law says if some dunderhead sees it as a threat.... well, it could get real akward. So, this knife fixes a lot of things for me. I like the handle, I love a convex grind, although the blade profile works I think I like the profile of the Bat a lot better, but I still like it. So I added it to my Christmas wish list and posted it where my kids could see it when they come over. lol I think it would be good in the kitchen and on the patio whittling. Thanks Chris.... 73

As a chef, I can say that this would be great for gutting and processing fish. Would love to see it encounter a trout. The fishermen would love this in their boats.

I have a suggestion for testing non bushcraft knives. How about cut test on different material? Cardboard, tape, packing wrap, cloth and tubing. Stuff you have cut around the house.
In our European bark river shop we have nice JX6s with mosaic pins and everything, maybe I buy one because I really like you and your ideas and btw it’s bark river ;)

Was wonder why you didn't do a review on the Buck Reaper? It sure looks a lot like your Jessica X and the knife Schrade SHF 9. The only difference I could see is the Buck Reaper has a Rosewood handle on this Buck knife. And I couldn't believe I found it at may local Wal-Mart at a really good price $39.84. And was very sharp right out of the box. And of course as with all Buck knives has the forever warranty.

PREPAREDMIND101 I really do wanna own them all and will in time I think my first will be Jessica x shrade as I need an upgrade from my 36 what I have is the esee rb3. great knife it's my first scandi and I'm learning lots with it for heavy use my shrade 36 (impulse buy) don't regret it at all shrade steel is nice I can kick the crap out of that 36get home give it some stropping and paper slicing edge back nine nicks nothing to bitch about at all but I do want a knife I can use as a bushcrafter and baton with the esee is really not a blade I'd baton with. matter of fact it warns you not to in the box lol. do when I upgrade it will be most likely an LTKW just would like some ideas from anyone reading.

it's something now I was out in the woods this morning and found a nice dry piece of elm and I batoned some small pieces I had the jessmuk and my saker now the saker makes nice feathers but the jessmuk having the same belly as this knife the feathers that you make with the jessmuk are so much easier it's like the belly used the right way makes longer ones I guess I don't have to explain this to anyone who ones one of Chris knifes it just one of the differences that makes it a better knife for bushcraft
Designed the Jess-X and sold 2000 of them. Designed the Jessmuk and sold (No idea but) a lot of them. Designed the JX3. Proved I could design original stuff that sells.
Great design Chris, love the sharpening notch (such an important part of the blade that a lot of companies get wrong), the desing looks very utilitarian and bark river quality is top notch. Is there one with carbon fiber scales?
