I've literally installed thousands of feet of this type of flooring for a shop I worked for in Nor Cal. It is absolute crap but I love installing it because you can cut it with your Crain or Roberts chopper.
Our former Carpet One has had a hickory faced MDF type core plank on its main showroom floor for at least 15 years. The Shaw hand scraped style only has like a 1/16 inch thick veneer. Most of its life, it wasn't cared for very well, but it still looks great. I'm on the Oregon coast. Customers walk in straight off the wet parking lot, onto an 8 foot long covered concrete entry, then inside the store. It's held up beautifully. It's a Shaw product and the good old glued together T&G type. I wouldn't say never buy this material. I'd say only buy it from a large, known company like Shaw..... and has a good written guarantee. And definately look for its moisture resistance in the guarantee. All cores are not the same. Being wood they obviously can't perform like LVP. That doesn't mean they can't handle a spill or a pail of water if you get it wiped up quickly.
@@FloorsbySouthernboys In a glue down, I'd 100% agree. Tear out at some point would be expensive. Plywood only with a wear layer capable of resending a couple of times.
I just measured. LARGE custom second home by one of our golf courses. The 8 inch wide plank can be sanded 4 times. It's glued and probably stapled to Weyerhauser Gold OSB. Long planks and it's a 10 ply site finished material. Around $20 per foot and probably $30 by the time it's completed. Remember when they built entire homes for $30 per sq ft? 😁 The carpet installed will be $35,000. This is a second, or "vacation home" 😱
@@aetorres7422 yeah I have experienced that too. If you ever install a oil rubbed finish you are not supposed to use any type of tape on that product just so you know.
I recognize that product, its called "Twix" and a competing product is called "Butter Finger"..
@@rossclarke7692 it is garbage

What’s your thoughts on revwood plus
@@graigsnovak7337 I installed rev wood a few times and from my experience it is a pretty good floor
Oh man, that just seems like a recipe for disaster! Were you gluing or stapling that down?
@@johnsteier3535 it was a glue down job

I have never seen a mdf core engineered hardwood
I have had a similar experience the tape was pulling off the finish
