Woolie couldn't grasp the combat because the Arkham games expect you to do what fighting games train you NOT to do: constantly be pushing forward with the stick while mindlessly mashing buttons. You will somehow fly across the entire room to hit a guy is long as you're doing that, but if you're used to precise directional inputs that put out entirely different moves then that isn't gonna come natural.
This is the most excited I have felt for a Pat stream since Sonic 3 and Knuckles! Pat, I love all you streams but there are a few that lure me in hard. This is one.

The boss fights made that game. They really should have put Deathstroke way later and it would have helped the game's reputation a lot. I get it's for the game play but getting the Remote Claw, then getting a second fight towards the end after the helmet comes off and the sword comes out. Would have been way more hype.
After all these year's the combat is still jank, I don't believe that game has had a single patch fix since it's releases Boss fights are the best in the series though..imo

Out-of-universe, it's easily explained by the fact that Batman can't really be much smarter than the people writing him anymore, lest they risk ridiculous Silver Age pseudoscience. In-universe, I have no idea how to explain why Batman's enemies pose a legitimate threat to him.

The threats just get bigger and bigger in scope and mortal heroes team up with gods and need to validate their existence in the group, so the writers make them better and better so they measure up and can deal with the threat without looking pathetic. Then once the threat is dealt with, they can't dial it back down again without it seeming ridiculous.

Curious to see what kind of critiques Pat has for this remaster. As someone who played the PC version at least once every year since launch, this remaster looks and feels like it needed another six months in the oven.
Gotta say, the absolute toxicity of CoD gaming really seemed stupid to me, and I basically never played any CoD except at my friend's house and never owned one till the 2019 remake where it was one quick keybind to mute the lobby. Sometimes I would listen into some of the dumb toxic crap people would spout, and I'd laugh in their faces and say "harder daddy" because nothing fucks with an insecure man more than thinking he's turning another guy on. The worst people just left their mics on with kids crying or just constantly talked shit or saying the game was bullshit repeatedly even though nobody else was talking the whole match. My question I always wanted to know the answer to was "if this game is so trash, unfair, and bullshit why do you play it?"
Origins is rough. I remember liking it okay but a recent play through just demonstrated how unfinished the game is and I just wanted to play City again.
The best part of Origins is the boss fights; all of them are better than anything Rocksteady did, who only really got inventive with the Mr Freeze fight.

In this remaster, scans will say subject obscured if there's a whole ass wall between you and the riddle solution or Arkham scarab plaque. It's bullshit. Also the colour it scans things is wrong. The brown colour is supposed to be for scanning solutions but in the remaster it's that brown every time and it doesn't fade out it just cuts. Unfinished game
i don't even like superheroes except for um, that second christian bale movie and the deadpool movies, but this game is pretty cool. city is super boring though
This game is one of the best but the Riddler stuff completely nukes it. Strong Metal Gear Solid vibes (alone, surrounded by enemies. Equipment is procure on sight), but the Riddler stuff ssssuuuuuucccckkkkks. And they didnt make them any better in the sequels.
I happened to enjoy the Riddler stuff. Not the trophy collecting, but solving the riddles with the camera. Wish it had more of the latter and less of the former.

Nah in this game it's more like a Moab. Knight gets nuked pretty hard with it's ending being tied to it. Some of the puzzles are fun and I find it super funny how much time the riddler put into it. However I don't like it being mandatory.
This is not a popular opinion to have, particularly as Asylum is the ONLY game to feature Harley Quinn's original VA, but it's one I share. I'm just going to assume Sorkin's delivery in those logs was a direction issue, rather than an acting issue, because there is an episode in TAS where Sorkin voices Quinzel before she meets Joker and she manages to actually sound like a normal person instead of someone that would raise ALL the red flags to any halfway competent personnel manager.
