It’s so great that they now have gorillas on TH-cam! Prior to this, what, you go to a zoo, spend a couple of minutes at their enclosure and move on - not much of an experience. But now that you have a window into their life, you can learn their names, background, their personalities, relationships within the troop, follow interactions and events. It’s so much more meaningful, one identifies with them so much more. Observers also compare zoos, and that can incentivise zookeepers to adopt best practices.

Thank you for this video! You have answered questions that I had about their diet-so cool that they grow so large on mostly vegetables. Enjoy seeing them from home on video.❤❤

Will the gorillas ever get an outdoor exhibit? The silverback is a wonderful looking animal!

Not sure if they'd appreciate a Chicago winter...

I agree with what your saying, but I would think Silverbacks'' getting their habitat in Africa back is a great goal. At least a reservation with armed protection.

I HOPe they r able to go outside to get fresh air and natural sunshine? they just like humans need sunshine for not only vitamin d but to help us not fall into depression.

It sounds like the gorillas go elsewhere at night. Is that the case? How cooperative are they in getting them to leave the display for their evening place? Are they still kept together during evenings or are they separated?

Do the lights go off so they can sleep? 4-16-2022

The animals sleep behind the scenes, and yes, the lights do go off at a certain time every night (except for safety lights) and then come back on in the mornings.

Thats smart to treat them with popcorn. How can they stand just eating leaves all their life?!

They get lots of different types of food, in many different ways! There is an enrichment stump where they need to use tools to obtain peanut butter, they dig through piles of hay or wood chips, and there are timed feeders throughout the habitat that randomly release food throughout the day, just to name a few.

You do realize they eat a lot of leaves in the wild.
      ...right?

gorillas r so precious! when i watched the true story of dianne fossey, it was so sad , how the gorillas were on the brink of extinctiion!!! because of the poachers back then in the 1960's! but dian fossey worked so hard to help with the conservation programs to save gorillas. they r still in this FUTURE OF 2021 STILL ENDANGERED??!!

Unfortunately, western lowland gorillas are critically threatened.
