I love you guys channel!! While we haven't been to SA yet (or the whole of Africa for that matter), my family and I are so looking forward to making our way over there (God willing, soon). To weigh in on the convo, from the vids I’ve seen, particular to Cape Town, it definitely gives me Cali vibes (Southern California specifically). I am a Cali girl (born and raised who moved to Texas 3 yeas ago), and Ricky, you are SPOT ON when you said Laguna Beach and Manhattan Beach…Cape Town is definitely giving that vibe. I'd also add San Diego (particularly the LaJolla area)…I’d also say Newport Beach (lets just say Orange County in general). I've been to Miami once, and based on that visit, it reminds me of the vids I’ve seen on Durban. Great video you two! Please keep them coming…your positive energy keeps me motivated. Blessings to you both and your kiddos 🤗🤗
Capetown- Bay Area, CA (Ocean, wineries, mountains) Johannesburg - Atlanta, Houston (demographics, Black entrepreneurs, energy) Durban - Miami (Beaches, humidity) and LA (Mountainous topography, ocean) FYI: I've lived in Atlanta, Miami, Bay Area, CA, DC, Chicago, Johannesburg, and work in KZN (Durban)
I lived in VA Beach for 4 years and I don't think it's anything like Cape Town. Cali is much more like Cape Town with the mountains and wine routes. BTW, I'm from CPT, but lived in the US for 10 years.
Johannesburg CBD has a potential. The problem is the psychology of people who live there. How their brains functions, is beyond any psychology or town planning text book solution could offer. To restore Joburg to its former glory, you need a fascist system or Soviet Union system or Adolf Hitler type of leadership to do something with brain 🧠 structure of people who live there.. It is through that intervention, that Hillbrow, Jeppestown and other yonky places of down could be fixed. A human rights and other liberalists approaches cannot fix Joburg CBD. Sorry if I sound venomous.
I agree to both Atlanta/Houston And Cape Town like California with the beaches and the Wine Country were cape is better than Napa California and Cape has the largest Wine Route in the World

Durban umhlanga is referred to as an oasis. Can't be compared. Phil Scott from African Diaspora News Channel said he and his people prefer Durban over Cape Town.
Lady C you are absolutely right about Newl York people walking 24-7 ! My eyes were wide open when I first went to New York it was wild! You know I am a Clearwater Florida lady now. I lived in California for years in LA Crenshaw area and Englewood! Love my life!!!1
I get why most people (mostly South africans and africans in general) compare Joburg to New York..the number of tall buildings..in fact joburg has the highest number of tall buildings in whole of africa ..the colonial architecture in the Joburg Cbd gives that New York " Grand Central " type of building style ..your Victorian era type of Architecture ...unlike most cities in Africa joburg gives that New york fast pace bustle and hustle ( in african standards ofcourse 😁😁) i never been to America just like most of my fellow africans so New York is the only city we familiar with through TV ..so we would draw similarities from there
Unfortunately you've arrived in SA when Joburg cbd is no longer liveable... If you'd been here in 90s you would've seen cbd in all its glory.. Thank God we're voting tomorrow to reclaim our cbd from destruction. There was area called kine Centre it wss the time square just like new York..
Cape Town is most similar to Santiago Chile or I thought you would say San Diego USA. I also think Jozi is Atlanta as I have seen and heard never been there. so I agree Atlanta Georgia
As a ex American.. I dont think US has anything that quite comes close to Capetown.. Capetown is just one of the most beautiful cities of the world. It's a dream..
I’m from Miami and I can confirm there are casinos. Magic City is the big casino in Miami near Miami international airport. My ex girlfriend’s Aunt used to go there every weekend lol. Although I never been to Durban yet but from all the videos I’ve seen on Durban it definitely gives me Miami vibes
Fun fact. Joburg is bigger than New York in terms of size. I think the comparison is more functional than astheatic. Joburg and New York are financial centres in their respective countries and central hustle centres. I do agree with the fact that in terms of asthestics they dont look alike but definetly in terms of functionality. The diversity of the people is definitely like New York in terms of finding everyone from around the world but I 100 agree, it looks more Atlanta than New York but it definitely functions like New York. New York is more like Tokyo.
Durban: Miami because of beaches and palm trees, the vibe ( people driving around with open roof cars playing loud music) Cape Town : California even though in Cali I never seen oceans next to a mountain like in Cape Town Johannesburg: I don’t know cause I never been to Atlanta 😂. But I can confirm that South Africans never compare Johannesburg to New York, it is never a topic amongst us, I think it’s visitors that say. We know for sure that New York is a concrete jungle with high buildings and a busy Times Square.
@@THEJONESFAMILYCHANNEL yeah We all can agree New York is on another level. Johannesburg on the other hand we need to fix the cbd area , it stresses me out 😭.
There is a proposal to ‘unlock’ a nighttime economy and boost economic growth in Joburg and is still being looked at by members of the business sector, hopefully once energy challenges are a thing of the past, will be implemented.

its not 100% like the states the coast has more Florida and Miami and California but not 100% Central Sa is Country farm land wholesome. We dont have a deep South Region like New Orleans..
