"Yeah, this IS awesome!" No young lady, YOU are awesome! As someone who also is learning to read and write Braille I totally relate to her enthusiasm. Well done Perkins!

My granddaughter who is in the photo is learning braille, however she is a little behind so we are hoping to get to try this Smart Brailler out soon. I feel it will help her overcome the feeling of not being able to read her braille. We are doing a fund raiser in our community next month to try and raise the money to purchase this Smart Brailler for her. Wish us luck .. Thank you, Michelle

I'm very excited that these are now available on APH quota funds. It is a good tool for children learning braille and especially dual literacy.

It does have the Braille embossing like a standard Perkins, so it does allow the student to touch the physical Braille.

My feeling is that we want to allow blind people to be literate, so we keep Braille in practice even though it may be cumbersome in some ways. What should happen is for someone to come up with a cheaper way to do refreshable Braille to make it more affordable than it currently is.

Excelent tool for people that are just learning. I only can dream with this, too expensive for the context I work

Me gustaría saber si lo que se va escribiendo aparece en la pantalla , ¿cuanto cuesta( en euros)? ¿La distribuye la organización nacional de ciegos española?, ¿ como la enviarían?. Respuesta en español

:O :D as someone who used to use one for school (Grade 7 through present I use electronic and sometimes paper) this is E P I C. I need to look into this, maybe I can ask my parents to get me one for fun, plus I will have friends who are blind at in person high school next year so I might want to translate stuff so they can understand it.

Nick how are blind people suppose to read and write? How are blind people suppose to go to school? So are you going to make fun of a deaf person because they have to use sign language? Your comment was very wrong.

  • @jacquelinesmith-jackson2815
    @jacquelinesmith-jackson2815 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Are you serious? Why are you going to say mean things about inventions to help blind or visually impaired people?
I think someone is being very arrogant right now. As a visually impaired person I did find that comment to be very offensive.

Look blind people have to go to school too. So what your saying is blind people shouldn’t be allowed to go to school?
    That’s wrong.
Blind people shouldn’t be discriminated because they can’t see.

Let me be the lone Dissenter. Has anyone ever wondered why braille is truly dying? well, look at this video and figure it out. We have built electronics and technology....onto what is essentially still behaving like a manual typewriter. I showed my Perkins to a math professor who literally laughed at it for its internal complexity. This is not innovation, this is a bandaid sollution that still costs a lot of money. Braille is expensive, slow, and takes up space.

Also it says the parents, carer or teacher can look at the screen and not physically know braille! If your working with a braille user you to need to know braille as well.

      Nick
      Seriously 😳????
People make technology like this so blind and Visually Impaired people can learn. There’s a good reason this was made, so blind people and Visually Impaired people can be independent.
