So right now what he needed is to avoid getting injured. And also a plan after he retire. Barca offered that chances for him. If Messi sign up for other club, people expected him to do his magic in every time he play. He already 34, its aleady a miracle that Messi can maintain his current form at this age. @@gokulkanna9180 Then you obviously haven't studied Messi in detail. He's always been grateful to Barca for their sponsoring his treatment of growth deficiency syndrome during his La Masia days. There are other reasons why he chose to stay with them despite the scam and sham that has plagued Barca board for the last 4-5 years and has been the player's voice instrumental in bringing out the issues caused by present management and complete abandoning La Masia by Bartemou and Sandro Rosell in recent years. He threatened to quit if Bartemou stayed and that got the job done. This is perhaps the only time where his contract wasn't renewed before expiry of the previous one. Remember he was a free agent and could have joined PSG or City or MLS for a load of money and yet he chose to stay with Barca with a pay cut. FYI even Buffon played for PSG after quitting Juventus just like Xavi and Iniesta did in Qatar & Japan. But it doesn't make them less great as they've given everything their club has possibly asked for. It's because of bartomeu. Can't you see why Barca fell after bartomeu came that's why Messi wanted bartomeu out if not he'll leave the club. But Barca managed to kick barto out and bring back Messi's old friend Laporte that why he chose to stay. This shows that he love Barca like it's his home only. Same like Other legends like gerrad,Giggs,Totti, maldini,Puyol,Xavi etc but when Messi is loyal these haters judge and says that he's scared of challenges. What??? His stats are still exceptional and his impact is still huge. At the current trajectory by 37 38 he probably still will be getting atleast 20 goals and that is still wanted by many clubs. If barca decides it's time to let him go..I wouldn't be surprised if he gets offers from Italy with short contracts cause they would still find him very much able and at that point he will be faced with a decision to play in serie a or mls..and that decision wouldn't be hard to make.

It a 2 yrs deal after that, it going to be reassess every yr for 3 more yrs and see his level. then he can move to the USA if he decides to leave after 2 yrs. the USA team would pay the remaining 3 yr deal.

Craig should at least do a bit of research before the show so that half the segment isn't catching him up on details. And he is missing the importance of messi to the economic success of Barca - he is their brand at this point, so they need to get creative with finances. we don't know all the details of the contract, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to learn that his wages are subsidized by Inter Miami, Adidas, etc., similar to how Beckham's wages when he came to the MLS were largely from sponsors and not LA Galaxy due to salary cap limitations.

All Messi is doing is standing by what he said. It is more important for him to be a good person. He only shows his character, his love of the game. And by doing so, returns the favor to FC Barcelona what he's been blessed by this club.

Meaning Messi gets paid by Barca for 5 years what he officially plays for two years then move to MLS and still gets paid by the MLS team he signs for while at the same time collecting his paychecks from Barca on a regular to wrap up the 5 years without kicking a ball for Barca in the final 3 years of the deal.
It's either Barca are so terrible and dumb with making these nonsense deals or some of the board members making these deals with players are getting secret cutbacks from the deal themselves.

I don't think he will go to MLS, why do everyone think all people want to move to the US? I think either he stays at Barcelona until he retires, or he will move to Argentina to play for his youth club for a year.

When talking about messi..they have to understand one simple thing..that is messi is a very humble, remember history and appreciate the kindness of others toward him and his family, while messi is sick and his family is poor..
Now days we cannot find this kind of attitude in common people anymore, because ones they have became rich, popular and wealth..they forget everythings..because of money power many have change from humble to egoistic moron..that's the fact..what ever messi doing in barcalona is not about money..messi is just paying back all the kindness that barcalona give to him and his family before..he is a person who know to payback people help and kindness..
So don't compare messi with other top football player..because messi is not just the best of the best player, but the most messi is a human with high dignity qualiti..my hero messi is special not just as a player but also as a kind human with good heart..
