And he is missing the importance of messi to the economic success of Barca - he is their brand at this point, so they need to get creative with finances. we don't know all the details of the contract, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to learn that his wages are subsidized by Inter Miami, Adidas, etc., similar to how Beckham's wages when he came to the MLS were largely from sponsors and not LA Galaxy due to salary cap limitations.
