I couldn't watch Messi's penalty. I just thought there was so much pressure on him to score, after that miss in the 2016 final, that he could well miss again. Instead, I went next door, turned on my computer and just looked at the game updates. Was so pleased when he scored, which made watching the rest of the shootout slightly more bearable. Just hope there isn't another in the final, even though Martinez could well be the difference if that did happen.

Also, Brazil is not getting home advantage this time because of the empty stadium. If the game was being played in front of a Brazilian crowd, I would give a slight edge to Brazil. But under the current circumstance, it's a 50-50 game. So, back to the original point- since this Argentina is an improved version and Messi is in great form, and Brazil is not getting any home advantage, this is a very good chance for Argentina to win the final.

Objectively speaking, In all international tournaments that Argentina has come short, Messi was quite clearly Argentina best player and had consistently put them in position to win. Its not about whether Messi is ready, its about if Argentina is ready. Will they finally not shy from the occasion and perhaps take the burden off of Messi from continuing putting on super human display and take him to the promise land? Messi has been quite clearly the best player in this tournament, that includes Neymar player incredibly well, but Neymar has a far better coach, structured team and solid defense to support him. Objectively speaking, In all international tournaments that Argentina has come short, Messi was quite clearly Argentina best player and had consistently put them in position to win. Its not about whether Messi is ready, its about if Argentina is ready. Will they finally not shy from the occasion and perhaps take the burden off of Messi from continuing putting on super human display and take him to the promise land? Messi has been quite clearly the best player in this tournament, that includes Neymar player incredibly well, but Neymar has a far better coach, structured team and solid defense to support him. I fear that Messi and Argentina will lose this game, my heart cant take seeing him losing another final.

Romero was a beast for Argentina at the 2014 world cup. He played a huge part in their run to the final as well. Amazing how they didn't even talk about him in the goalkeeper conversation.
