    This is simply how a market economy functions. There was a massive real estate bubble in china so building prices and therefor rents went far too high. So as all these shops close, at least partially because rents are too high for the stores to make money, the people who own the building will go bankrupt and the building will be sold to new owners at the new lower price. This will allow rents for the stores to fall and let the stores make money again since a much smaller amount of money will be spent on the rent.
    Overpriced real estate creates a lot of problems. The building owner needs the high rent to cover the loan payments on the building. But the rents are so high that it's impossible to make money, especially with a recession. This is how a market economy functions.

      @@Nikotromus I don't even know if I agree with the concept, but commercial real estate collapsing could cause a systemic failure.
      China isn't as securitized as the US with debt. Regional banks in the US have "more" exposure to commercial real estate, but most of the debt is offload via bonds. The risk is spread out. Have to imagine that the net of Chinese banks have a way higher % of their portfolio in commercial real estate.

Is start turning alot of space in the mall turn them into homes condos an some stores in side this is the only way to save the malls an alot of people will love it. Not have to go out side.
