  • It’s a condition more common than people realize, Plagio-Cephaly, where your baby may have a flattened head on one side. News4 investigates found out paying to fix it can be more complicated than you think.

    So you mean,I have to go to a trained professional and not to someone trying to sell medical helmets? Gee I never would of thought that 😂😂

    Don't listen to this. Her son had a special condition to where a helmet like cranial tech does not work well. Our son had a flat spot on his back from laying too long and we went for pictures and got him a helmet. He's work for 2 months now and we went for new photos and it helped tremendously. His jaw came forward. His head is now symetrical. And the girls up there do a great job.

      I agree, this gives the whole company a bad image because one mom didn't do her research. All babies are different, and you should always get multiple opinions before putting an infant in any orthotic device.

      Thank you mine as the same as yours from the back I was getting second thoughts because of this. Now I rest assured that cranial Tech is going to fix my baby's head

      anyone with any condition requiring this helmet please go to a different pedi ... i was convinced my son had torticollis. a d was told his head will fix itself stupid me!!! he started favoring one side at 3 1/2 months and his arm was restricted... he had perfect head until that happened the pedi couldnt tell me what i did wrong for it to happen he would move his head out of the head rotation position constantly... thats when it started to misshapen his head i even bought the anti flat head pillow before he was born. he did alot of tummy time and holding time because i knew it would be my first/ last kid. and i didnt want him to have a wide face like i do i also have flat head. it really kills me... i had to wear leg braces 24/7 it sucks. never thought i would be stuck... the clinic is an hour 15 mins away every two weeks i have to take him there... still trying to find a new pedi to get this tort under control...limited insurance sucks!

    I don't understand this. You bring them back constantly for updates. They show you 3D imaging of your before and the steps of treatments. This process is extremely similar to that of getting braces for your teeth. Your baby wears the helmet for 23 hours of the day. I wonder if this family did not follow the instructions because I have never heard of this.

    It’s so weird they can go straight to a helmet clinic, my son was referred to a Neurosurgeon and the Neurosurgeon works directly with the clinic in giving them the treating plan, the clinic doesn’t do anything without the Neurosurgeons evaluation and guidance

    We got through the first dat as of today! As mentioned from another comment. It’s so weird their see helmet clinics out there. We were referred from our pediatrician, then neurosurgeon…and they all happen to work under the same hospital.

      @The Young Turds but the plagiocephaly usually comes from them laying in a favorite position my girls was from her torticolis.

    my son had brac... due to torticollis so he constantly stay in one position and constantly move his head started at 3 month old... sigh... hes now 6 month old and started wearing it. you have to stay on top of the instruction to the t... and before you bash me. i work leg braces for years horrible experience as a kid ... so im not handling this well. i wish i had change pedi and got his torticollis fixed sooner... i have a flat head i think my mom had open heart surgery so she couldnt hold me plus i spent alot of time in the hospital too as a baby. i never ever thought i would be in this position ever... i held him so much yet it still happened... i bought a flat head pillow before he was born so he wouldnt get what i had... still happened. he had perfect head shape till at 3 1/2 month the favoring began. was told oh it will fix itself... bullshit... he couldnt even explain what caused the torticollis i kept bugging him on how to get rid of it. they kept claiming they didnt have another pedi. i should had gone to the one an hour away ( my mind kept worrying about disrupting his nap and sleep cycle and him being stuck in the car seat for so long) so frustrating.. 😢😢😢

      Torticollis is almost always present at birth and is almost always missed at birth. It becomes more pronounced as baby grows. Sorry this happened to you. I caught it when my daughter was 4 months and the doctors missed it every visit until I told them she has it.

      that doesnt work for torticollis his head was perfect until he developed that and constantly putting his back to his rotation routine all day sucks. i always held him because i knew it would be the last time i have a kid. i wished i had gone to a different pedi i kept being told it would fix itself. i was duped for sure...

      That’s a misconception. What you’re saying is plain shaming All mothers. I agree to a degree. for first time mothers who stay at home and have families help 24/7 I agree they should carry their baby at all times that they’re awake. But for those who have 2 under 2 and don’t have help from family it’s inevitable. It’s either carry your baby at all times and neglect them by having the home inhabitable. Or neglect to keep up with switching head positions to keep the house clean and tidy for them to explore safely. Moms aren’t 🐙. That’s for everyone who didn’t give birth to a child themselves.

    • @elizabethrincon6174
      @elizabethrincon6174 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      It’s not because of neglect! My baby is literally 2 months old and we noticed it when he was born! As he’s getting older it’s getting worse so he needs a helmet to correct his features it’s not because of neglect! You need to educate yourself about this before opening your mouth!

      Are you slow? This condition can come from low positioning in the womb or maternal thyroid deficit.. it aint about laying down. My grandma raised all of us and 5 of her own kids and seven grandkids and she didnt have time to be carrying us and before all the new fancy swings and mess came. We turned out great. There are other influences. If anything laying down excessively may exacerbate a preexisting condition but not be the root cause.

      You sound extremely ignorant and that’s sad. Newborns sleep A LOT and have to lay on their backs.
