Wow. I wonder if this is one of your best installments ever. Thank you so much James Kalm ! Tho different- two such warm hearted, generous painters. Seeing this brings back the love of painting and renewed confidence it is alive and well.

As is rarely the case, both of these shows had works that can imagine just falling in love with on a daily basis were they hanging on my walls. Just wonderful. Thank you James & Kate!
The TT show was just amazing. For me it had kind of a Joan Synder fuses a Martin Wrong vibe. Nice juxtaposition of light sketchy areas with the chunky impasto parts.
In the press release the say that many of these works are from the Greenwich Collection: "The Greenwich Collection is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization founded by Robert Ryman in 1987. The foundation is dedicated to preserving the integrity and enhancing the understanding of Robert Ryman’s work."
If not mistaken- wasn't Ryman also a musician or at least a jazz lover ? When gazing at these - especially for their rhythm one is curious what he listened to ?
Yes, Robert Ryman came to New York hoping to be a jazz sax player. One of his first jobs was, working as a guard at the Museum of Modern Art, where he met other people who were young artists and critics...JK
The early Ryman paintings are exquisite! Thank you James and Kate!
Love the early Ryman paintings! So interesting to see the evolution of ideas, both small and large scale. Thank you James and Kate!

Gorgeous, absolutely stunning, I gasped at one of the Rymans. Both shows, very impressive!
What a great painter and exhibition.
You should upload a seperate commentary track.
11:39 ff.: Very well put by James.
Very appealing to me.
Wow, beautiful.
Thanks
Trosch’s work is reminiscent Stael with figuration and assorted symbols… Fascinating how Ryman can invent a style and spin it off endlessly… 🙏🏼😊
The Ryman exhibition is a rare one, thank you for sharing it. Will they be coming to market soon, perhaps?

A little Matisseish...like it.
Somebody at the gallery show doesn't know how to use their inside voice it seems.
😅😅😂 "inside voice"!! Love it!
Jungle people.
LOL, if only that James Kalm dude would STFU so we could eavesdrop on Mr. Shouty! Oh, yeah, thank you Kate! 🙂
My apologies, you brought Matisse up further along in the video.
Who was the musical guest?
Sorry, I didn't get the name...JK
