Thanks for the tour. Great job!! On this ship soon. Been on a few HAL cruises and I love them. But those were the bigger ships they have. I pick them for the locations. I can rock climb at home, don’t need it on a ship to entertain me. For the HAL food, you can always ask for more. However, I found their serving sizes correct and the quality is excellent.

We are on the Eurodam for an Alaskan cruise next year. Looks great. I don't think I would do an inside cabin though. Glad we booked a verandah for our cruise.
If the whole casino is non smoking , I cannot go as my friends are smokers and would be pretty mad. We just went on the N. Statendam and smoking is permitted in the casino.
FYI, the monarchy in The Netherlands is the House of Orange. Hence the orange-themed events.

As another stated, order more selections on Holland. Get several appetizers, not just one. Get two entrees. I think I would have ordered the lamb and the duck the same night. There is no reason not to get full on Holland. By the end of the cruise, they generally just roll me off the ship.

We have found the food options superior to other lines. Smaller portions are acceptable and the quality is very good and you can always ask for more. Holland is not a Carnival and operates differently and has less amusement park type rides. The personnel were very nice and accommodating and the drinks were just about right. If you are looking for a party type ship this is not for you. If you are looking for better quality food and service and less crowds then Holland is a great option.
Were you expecting a Carnival like atmosphere?? Not gonna happen on HAL!!
Holland America is the Best Cruise Ship for Whiskey Connoisseurs and Whisky Enthusiast. They have a HUGE selection of Bourbon and Scotch compared to all the other Cruises in the industry. Their Specialty Cocktail Menus are also Top Notch!
I did quite enjoy the specialty cocktails quite a bit on the ship

@@oldgoat50 so we did our cruise. Cabin 5065 and were very pleased. everything was well appointed.. Not sure why you would put more than one in shower ;-)
Why do you say free food or free snacks? Isn’t all the food free in this ship? How much is the drink package? How much are the gratuities per person per day?
There are some specialty restaurants that aren’t included in the cost of the cruise. Drink package was $60 per day. Daily gratuities are $16 per person per day.
The "bait and switch" on the drinks helped me decide not to book on Holland America. Thanks for the info.
Do you think that the ship was kid friendly?

Kids home!
Holland is limited on kid's activities. We are going with two of our grandkids in a month to Alaska. While on ship, we will be playing lots of games with them. We will use that time to deepen our reationship them. We will be spending lots of time the first two days looking for migrating whales, teaching them about Alaska, and introducing them to cruising. The kids like to swim so I expect that will be a daily activity. While is not family-oriented like Disney with its costumed characters or Norwegian with its gokarts, kids can have a really good time on a Holland ship. The focus is more on the journey to Alaska and the cruise experience, rather than high energy activities. I intend to keep my grandkids busy and I intend to know them better.
The point about subbing out cheaper liquors makes me concerned what else isn't done properly. Any point of dishonesty in service makes me worried what else would be done wrong on purpose. Hope no one sticks a camera in the cracks of the showers...
Hmmm, not one mention about any VEGAN options. For health reasons, I'm on a plant based diet and would love to know if there were any options that didn't include "cheese, milk, meat, etc". Seems like all of the treats were chocolate or made with milk and eggs. I don't want to live on french fries and salad on my first ever cruise.
They do have plant based options and your cruise line agent should be able to provide more details on this option.
