    I found myself unexpectedly tearful watching the spinning segment.I used to be an avid spinner in the company of a dear friend who taught me this wonderful meditative art .When she died I somehow lost my joy in spinning but seeing you two spinning in quiet harmony made me realize how much I have missed being at my wheel.I am going to try again--thank you!❤

    Thank you for this episode. It was actually fun to hear about the Tune mishaps - I had to cast on three times as well. 🙂 In the end, I just knotted two different threads from two balls of yarn and did it from that, long tail cast-on can be really trying one's patience. Also, I didn't heed your advice and started the body in the round, so I'm going to have to watch out for the garment growing. I didn't have the courage to face sewing up stripey bits and was sure I'd get it wrong. Anyway, your colour choices are really nice and I'm looking forward to seeing the Tunes growing. Thanks again.

      @FleeceHarmonyPodcast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good luck with your Tune. It is a nice project! As for the sewing, take a look at my tutorial on mattress stitch. It is easy to get the stripes to match if your tension when knitting is consistent.

  • @brendamorison8671
    @brendamorison8671 ปีที่แล้ว

    In regards to Kim's Tune, since you are working on the back of your top and your gauge is a little tight, you could make the front a bit wider (an inch or two) and you would probably not notice it at all. That would give you just a bit more room in the front where you need it.

    • @FleeceHarmonyPodcast
      @FleeceHarmonyPodcast  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - I was thinking about that as a possible strategy. We will see how it goes. Since I am fooling around with my knitting technique, I am measuring my gauge as I go - making sure I am keeping it consistent.

      There are two things happening. Rowan Festive Week which is a series of virtual events with some of the Rowan designers. This event costs £15 to join. You can register for all of the talks for that fee or only participate in a few. One of the talks will be featuring Martin Storey and he will talk about his Mid-winter blanket during that event (July 26th). It is sort of the launch of the KAL, but you don't have to go to that talk to participate in the KAL. On July 27th, Rowan will post the KAL under Make Alongs on the Rowan connect site. You can register for the KAL for free there. The first pattern release for the Mid-Winter Blanket will be August 17th. The pattern releases and access to Martin's videos related to the blanket are all free when you register for the KAL. I explain the whole thing in this week's podcast - out at 2:30 this afternoon.
      Here is the link to Rowan Connect if you want to check it out. www.rowanconnect.net/
