Sir when we add heat then solid tries to expand after reaching maximum sustain temperature bcz the molecules try to move their position but not crossing each other.. That's why the binding force between the molecules becomes weaker and gap devlops....so material expands... Is not it??
I think, due to the temperature gradient the law of nature tries to balance the gradient. If there is no temperature difference then the heat supplied may used for changing its state or rising it's temperature

Sir, though the Boiling Point of Water is 100'c, there will b Water vapour(Steam) with temp of 540'c, in contact with the Solid rod, is not it.
