RETIRED DANCER'S REACTION/REVIEW: GFRIEND "Labyrinth" Dance Practice!

Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I'm in remission now! Doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible.
When I made this TH-cam name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛

You probably have lots of suggestions but definitely Gfriend is worth a try since debut era. They have amazing songs and dance practice. I won’t list them all cause they are lots but the first trilogy since debut: Glass Bead, Me gustas tu and Rough is what made Gfriend who they are now 😊

idk if you remember but they have the same clothes for this as the crossroads dance practice since the songs belong on the same album, the main theme and lyrics for both songs are feeling lost and searching for a way out which is why the choreography for both includes lots of quick formation changes, traveling through the members and interaction with each other
I really love gfriend's choreos, i agree that they are SO satisfying to watch...i remember in the first video that you reacted to gfriend's dance practice i was so happy because you really apprecited it. A lot of kpop stans talk that gfriend's choreos are simple or just meh, and i really love when people who have background on dancing talk about them, cause i feel they deserve some credit for their talent in dancing and also on delivering those great choreos

Great that you got to Gfriend's "Labyrith" dance practice. Also love the fact that you knew the song in advance. Off the bat, you highlighted the number 1 characteristic of this choreo - its high energy. One can't help but be pumped up for this chorus. It's also a lot of fun to see Gfriend members engage in individual interactions in the dance with each other. Of course when all the dancers come in to thunder with Gfriend members in Unisom, it's just hyperactive excitement!
You always gives great insight. Really love your observation about how the choreo complicated or not, should fit the song. Gfriend's choreo always does a great job in interpreting the song with different expressions, both simple or intricate.

What i love about gfriend is that they are not selfish on the center spot. They always do something different from the one singing to give the attention to her.
as usual gfriend's choreos not only matches the song's energy, it also help to describe and reflect the storytelling aspects in the song's lyrics. for example the part in the choreo where yuju pulls sowon described in the lyrics:
"look at me in the mirror, listen to me."
"move your mind, make it shine."
in the storyline they are trapped in their mind's labyrinth. yuju's character, who have a specific power with her mirror image, use her image to pull sowon and saves her from her mind's labyrinth by telling sowon to clear and let her mind shine so that the way out of the labyrinth can be revealed.
Lee Jung Hyun's pinky mic for "Wa" is so memorable. Strange that it never shows up in the MV.

Its actually pretty smart like you said. Like all the incorporation and not stopping movements, the nonstop travelling pretty much makes sense. The song is called labyrinth. And labyrinth is like a maze and them walking nonstop means that they are lost on a maze finding each other to get out.
