Hey lovely peeps. Forgive the slightly different video today, I hope you like it! Also forgive the random over exposure on the camera. I really do keep forgetting to put the ND filter on! Oh and yeah, I completely messed up the blur! Working on that!
Great video with an amusing twist, academy award nominations next year? I grew up in Gillingham (even living down Station Road for a while) and as a teenager used to regularly catch the train to Salisbury on a Saturday so remember vividly passing the old station at Semley as it always had loads of tractor parts in the yard next to it!
Nice one guys and girls!!! A mini Rebecca, just like Mum. Other burger and coffee outlets are available (thank goodness). That's a good railway mapsite, learnt a lot from that, nice and clear. Driven along that route many times and never realised what was the on the other side/under the bridge. Thanks Teach!! 👨🎓👍👍
Nice cut backs to 'Becca still stuck in the loo. Freya was great and you managed a fair few stations in the limited time frame. Clocked the old Scimitar at Semley.
thanks again. amazing how very little of the station buildings exist given that the line is still there. a health and safety thing I guess. If the line had gone , maybe the buildings would have remained.
Thanks Linda. It was a surprise that there was hardly anything left at any location. With regards photos etc of how they used to look, without paying for copyright photos there was next to nothing available.
Whitewick's Abandoned Railways I really loved it anyways. Just love railways and anything to do with them and I also love the way you present it. Thanks again
Such a great time to spend with your daughter! Learning some history and spending quality time with your dad is great, plus this video will last forever to show your own kids years from now. Just hope they don't get the idea that it would be fun to lock YOU in a closet!
@@pwhitewick What she'll remember is spending time with you! Believe me, my grown son and daughter still talk about all the things they used to do with me: Digging potatoes, gluing scrap pieces of wood together and painting them, flying kites, fishing and oh yes, visiting the local rail road yard and poking around in the weeds looking for telegraph pole insulators. It's being with you that counts!
Most amusing video, and fascinating also. I might show this to my twelve year old daughter, who is becoming reluctant to wanting to go out with her (super-cool) dad and little brother, to remind her what fun can be had. Your daughter did a stellar job by the way, and a very intelligent use of the broom.
A little extra history / info for you. At 1:32, just before the bridge, you past a sign on the right for the 'Bob Blandford Memorial Hall'. Bob Blandford was Mayor of Wilton on several occasions. He was also a keen Scouter. Upon his passing (2004?), it was decided that the already planned replacement Scout hall would be named in his honour for the service he gave to the community. He used to live in the Wilton South station you visited at 14:27, until his death. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he moved there shortly after the station closed in 1966.
Another great video! I always thought Wilton South would be worth reopening but maybe slightly further East so it could serve both lines. I remember taking a picture of the rail side of Wilton South from the train a few years ago. I'll try and dig it out and post it on your Facebook page.
Well done mini-Rebecca. A real scallywag! Poor Mum looked in the loo! Super video. Full of very interesting facts and information. 1955 seems to be a common date. Why were so many stations closed in that year?
Your vdaughter is a younger version of her mum and I love her,, By golly you did very well young lady while your mum was snoozing in the loo... !!!. Seriously I thought Semley station looked rather tired.....Very nice video sir.. Take care...all of you.
Hope you'll pop back for the rest sometime. Even 100 years on I'm surprised how little seems to be left of some of those stations, they must have all been accessible by road at some point.
8 out of 15 disused stations isn’t too bad but your ambitious plan did a Rebecca! (Went to the toilet) Great video and always wondered how you was planning stations on live railway lines, hopefully we see more of this series in the future of abandoned Stations on live railways 👍🏻
Nice one again Paul , lime kilns are normally filled from the top which could be what that hole at the back is did you go on the top of it,the large arch over may have been there to stop the rain getting at the burnt lime

Loved this fun video. Naughty Freya, good sport Rebecca! I know that area very well, having grown up in Wilton and Salisbury. Curious to know where that line kiln is, in my teens I used to cycle from Salisbury to Gillingham that way.
At the site of Wylie station, is that the base of an old signal box right next to the crossing? There is some clearly visible brickwork next to the track, with what may be the remains of the slot where the point rodding and signal wires came out of.
Rebecca looks different in this one...great video as usual and I liked the fact it was a bit different. Actually to me felt a bit like some of the first videos you did, with the very mild jeopardy of how many will they get to before they realise they've been hopelessly over-ambitious 👍
Sooooo true. Spoiler alert: It may well be that in the next set of videos coming over the next couple of weeks we have been a tad over ambitious on the High Peak trail on our bikes. 😬😉
This video reminded me of your earlier videos where the humour was more prevalent. I kind of miss it. There again it must be hard to create comical situations when you're trying to visit numerous sites of disused railway stations in not much time at all.
Cheers Daren. We miss creating them too. The issue we had was essentially they took around a month to film and relied on a number of friends being available to help. We much prefer being able to make weekly content. But agreed, we miss them too.
On a purely selfish note, as it was my home town,I would love to see an edition on the Fareham-Gosport branch line including the locations of the stations at Lee on the Solent and Stokes Bay. I still remember trains passing the back of my auntie's house on therir way down to Priddy's Hard. This was also the line Queen Victoria used on her trips to Osborne House on the ISle of Wight I believe.
Freya was a welcome addition, if a bit of a clever clogs. Did miss Rebecca, though...I should think 15 stations on still-used lines was a little ambitious, for one morning!

There is a campaign to reopen the station but further down the line a bit, it even got funded then bloody tories put a stop to it and the others that were so close to reopening in the area.
You need to do a part 2 to visit the rest of the stations that you missed. Theres no way you'd be able to go to all 15 in 5 hours minus lunch break so only 4 hours really. You needed a whole day - 9am to 5pm.
I'm not normally a fan of drones, but you may want to consider using a drone to fly in to the sites of the closed stations if your drone flight laws allow it. Just be careful and don't let the batteries go flat while the drone is in an inaccessible place.
Poor Rebecca - there's a song: Oh Dear! What can the matter be poor R. . . . got locked in the whatever - But her understudy is excellent. Pity you were so rushed it was an interesting video - most of the Abandonment was more like 'expunged' than abandoned. More please - great that you involved the children.
