Perfect timing. I've been trying to communicate with people in Washington and I've gone about it by finding alumni from my college through Linkedin and luckily I've had some success by talking to three already and about to talk to another one tomorrow. I have my issues that I'm passionate about and now time to do more research. Interesting ways to research the people. I'm doing the Washington Media Institute next summer after my Americorps service but I'm still hoping to connect with as many people in Washington as I can and learn. Personally one of my favorite videos. Awesome job Lauren!
I also want to point out that your university probably has specific opportunities! The UC system has, for example, the UCDC program that allows students to intern in DC for credit and houses them. It also includes electives and seminars, and there are guest campuses that aren't part of the UC system that participate. Also, you can check out things like your campus leadership, or other political opportunities. For example, I participated in registering students to vote for the Nov 2016 election, and therefore got to know people in the campus office who ran that campaign. You can also try and do political coverage in campus media, or run for leadership positions above your campus. There are also opportunities with the USSA (United States Student Association) if you're interested in that, because they lobby in D.C.
I keep changing my mind on what to do with my summer. LIke first it was a NY internship, but then I decided to work at music festivals and travel at the same time, and then theres some music internships that I kind of want but I dont really feel like doing it. Idk like my heart and my mind keep changing all the time.
That's totally normal. I think changing our minds happens to most of us. If you plan on interning March is a big month for applying for summer internships.
Thanks for your tips. However, what about non-US citizens wanting to get an internship in US politics? I'm an EU citizen currently doing a master in political science and studied North American Politics as a minor in my Bachelor. I already did some internships in German politics, but an internship in US politics would be a great opportunity. Grateful for any further advice!
Hi Lauren! Love your videos and the fact that you started this as a business! They help a lot of people, including myself. Just one suggestion, maybe use different font for your thumbnails. There is something about most of the thumbnails that I think makes people not want to click because these videos should be getting more views. The font is too formal and doesn't fit in. I think you're using Canva, maybe try using the font Bebas, or Cooper Hewitt, etc? I hope you take this in a constructive feedback way, I think everything else is great!
Hi Intern Queen! I love your videos. When applying for internships or contacting other professionals, do you recommend that we use our professional email address (like @gmail) or should we use our college's email domain (like @berkeley.edu)? Thanks!
You can use your gmail as long as it is professional. Usually I recommend you create a professional email address to use even after you graduate for example firstname.lastname@gmail.com. Some schools don't let students keep their emails after they graduate.
I have an interview for an internship next week. I'm so glad I found your videos.
Oh good! Let me know how they go!

Loved reading this! Great job by doing your research and going on LinkedIN. Definitely a great tool for online networking.

Great advice! Can you do a video on how to be an awesome brand ambassador?
I actually already made one :) Watch it here: th-cam.com/video/o-BA8eIKKZw/w-d-xo.html

She responded to everyone but you. Very unfortunate.
Hi Lauren, do you have a video or article about applying to grad school? Thanks to you and your team for sharing all the knowledge!
I actually haven't done a video about that but I definitely will! Thanks for sharing!

THIS is a really good question
