Damn, I thought banks had closed this loophole decades ago. In the 90s I was in the Navy. Guy, a day before payday, wrote himself a check, deposited it into the ATM, checked his balance to ensure it changed, then withdrew that amount so he could buy food and drinks. His bank called him in for a warning and they changed their ATM software so it would not automatically update with a deposit until the deposit was physically verified.
Only do that to extract a bizarre amount if you plan on getting out of the country with a few loopholes. Taking that cash and remaining in the same country is an automatic gg.
@@lightingthief4482 true that, depending on where you go. You go anywhere that is connected to the same (actually corrupt) system and devils running it, you're screwed hahaha
There was a similar story to the first one in Australia but with just one person. This guy was trying to transfer money from one account to another but the ATM kept saying transaction cancelled, but the money was still going across. He withdrew $1.6 million from the machine in $200 increments, and the bank had no idea anything was wrong. I think he did notify the bank about it and I don’t think he was arrested or charged.
In my twenties, I deposited a $770 check in the ATM. I then paid bills as usual. I got hit with fees for every transaction & bounced check no matter how many times it got resubmitted. Within a week I was down almost $2k. I raised holy hell at the bank because I was told I didn't make that deposit. In daylight. On camera. On a Sunday. I had to pay those people or my credit would've been ruined & possibly get charges filed. I closed that account after I paid it off. A year later they found the check in the ATM in the spindle thing, it never made it to the drop box. I didn't get so much as an apology much less any reimbursement. These folks gonna get they money one way or another 😂
If someone is standing too close to me, I would not try to access my account. when I go through the drive-through ATM, I’m always looking to make sure there’s no one just lurking about.
It's NOT a glitch. The bank allowing you access to a portion of the funds BEFORE your check clears is called a PROVISIONAL CREDIT. While not all banks give this COURTESY, many do so you don't have to wait days to weeks to access your money while the check clears. This is a normal practice in the banking industry. If your check doesn't clear however, the bank will reverse that deposit transaction and then you're on the hook for any amount of the "fronted" funds you spent/withdrew PLUS NON-SUFFICIENT FUNDS (NSF) FEES. I can't believe people are this dumb! SMH
Lol, that's why Chase started enforcing another feature. After that question, "Would you like to do something else?" If you hit yes, it'll ask you to tap or insert your card again.
Dub: People weren't lining up me: they were Dub: On camera me: 4K Dub: With your own account me: Full government name, socials and address Dub: With money you know you didn't have me: the $0.17 in they account been there since 2013
10:30 At Regions in my area the ATMs have tap and card reader and even if you hit Yes on the thing you'll have to reenter the PIN. Moment you withdraw or deposit your account is auto-closed on the screen
The only thing I can imagine working in this situation is taking out the money if you're planning on being a criminal like leaving the country and going on the run...
Funny enough, I actually got in trouble for that check deposit thing when I was younger, but my math still added up, eventually... See, I was getting a check that afternoon, but needed the money in the morning, so I made a deposit in the morning for the amount I needed, withdrew that money, paid the bill, then when I got my check I deposited it but for the amount I put for what the check was minus what I already deposited. I assumed since it's "same day" there wouldn't be an issue. But banks work on east coast time, even if they don't open until late west coast time.
In 1995 the US Navy overpaid me by several thousand dollars on one paycheck. I held onto the money knowing the Navy would want it back. I hoped they wouldn’t ask for it back for a long time so I could earn interest. Just in case, I transferred it to my higher interest savings account. When it was time to pay back, transferred back to checking and cut the check.
@2:17= holy crap on a flagpole... I know that area! that's the corner of 170th Street and Walton Avenue HERE in The Bronx (NY, where else, LOL!)! now I'm hoping I never find out that one of my homies went over and both made fools of themselves & earned themselves a prison sentence!
It was a legit glitch in the system. Usually in Chase the checks go into a holding period and depending on your trust level with the bank they may let you have some of the check right away. Sometimes they even let you have the whole check immediately. Anything above 10k is a automatic yellow flag and it goes on hold immediately. The ATM are glitched to where they give you the whole check without limit with no waiting period.
@lightingthief4482 AAAAAHHHHH gotcha... I didnt get the whole story. Because ive worked with financial institutions and AINT NO WAY we were releasing 10k in funds the day a check was deposited if you didnt have sufficient funds to cover it. At the most theu'd get 500 lol. But they understood for the most part
It's definitely not an infinite money glitch for regular people, but it could be for scammers with a card skimmer. Or, what if a person is robbed of their card and pon number at nug-point and held captive until the robber uses the glitch to withdraw $400k from several different ATMs. The victim is let go and they file a police report and report their card stolen to the bank. In reality, the robber was an acquaintance of the victim and they conspired the whole thing together. They split the money and lay low, no flashy and expensive purchases, only conservative spending for the next 2-5 years.
Lotta scammers doing check fraud on social media sites too this week. Fake advertisers wanting to user creator's work and promising to wire X amount to your account via a check (that will eventually bounce) and if you try to withdraw you will be in the hole.
