Ooo, I really like this! I always like to see more morally grey versions of Lumine, I wish we saw the Traveler be like that a bit more im canon. There definitely are times when the Traveler acts colder and more threatening, but it's far surpassed by the times they act friendly and understanding. Hmmm... I really do hope that the Traveler becomes even more jaded as time goes on
Technically, didn’t the traveler also go through a betrayal? (when they found out their sibling worked in the abyss) Kinda wished they could’ve used that to relate to scaraboi to show that they have some understanding of what he went through GODDAM IT HOYOVERSE GIVE THE TRAVELER MORE EMOTIONS!!
7 months late but I do actually think the Traveler has plenty of emotions they just don't speak so it's hard to read into the tone esp if the player is choosing the more stoic and cold options vs the playful and emotional ones, with their sibling I think they are repressing that betrayal, I mean like how delusional do they have to be to continue to desperately search for their sibling even after learning they're with the very group that is actively trying to kill you and other people. From an outsider's standpoint, we can be disgusted with the abyss twin for leaving them in the dust and powerless in the middle of this corrupt world but to the Traveler they fr just want to get their family back and leave.

They still think their sibling is good, and has a reasonable explanation for everything. They’re tricking themselves into believing a false narrative, so that all their hard work and effort doesnt go to waste. They would probably break down(like those evil Lumine/Aether videos) if they actually do accept that fact. Their sibling does still ‘want’ them, but they can’t have them know. Honestly, they might even join the fatui if they truly thought their sibling didn’t care for them(because of Childe, obviously).@@Sukiato

But then they both laugh which leads me to believe that he found it humorous that lumine had threatened him with his own threat and lumine couldn’t take the serious face serious anymore, just speculation
