I went back and watched all the trailers after reading the books. I noticed it too.
I also noticed how accurate the first game (witcher 1) trailer is to one of the short stories. Even the fight itself is accurate to the book.

I felt this way when the Baron's men where in that one village (where some went into the bar) and I didn't harm the bar men at first, but I noticed one of the men outside talked about raping a father's daughter to the father and there was nothing he could do about it. I went up to the bar men and they told me to get away, I didn't, and they got up and attacked me. I slaughtered all of them and made my way out of the bar and slaughtered all of the Baron's men in the village while a thunderstorm raged on. I then looked around at the mess, looked at the father, then got on Roach, and left to never come back. It was moments like that where I made a choice that stuck with me (and the game remembered too) throughout the game.
I remember that too. Pretty sure a lot of burning and decapitation was involved.
Yeah, that was the one time I snapped on some fools.
That is real immersion. Other game developers should take note

Only he said “proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred”. Exact quote from the book in the trailer would have been nice, but they made up for it with music after “killing monsters”
@@LittleBigTruths Well actually the original novel was written in Polish, and translations are seldom 1:1 between languages. So I imagine that it's simply a different translation/interpretation of the same line in Polish using different verbiage to make it sound more natural to the English ear, and honestly the way that it's translated in this trailer sounds better.
This is why I love Geralt. All he had to do was take the money and go, but his heart wouldn't let him. So often we get these "antiheroes" who either don't care what's right or wrong or try to straddle the line, try to be gray with things, but Geralt sees things as they are "Evil is evil", most writers today wouldn't dare have their main character say that out of fear of offending someone. I hope this boldness doesn't fade and that CD Project Red can continue to grow and develop more great games.
Don't forget the Books are a bit older.
And Geralt actually always tries to avoid those Things.

I can say with all honesty that The Witcher 3 is the only game in this world that I can call a perfect masterpiece. The trailers, the game itself, all characters, all what you can do in the game, and of course top of all, the developers. I just can't praise them enough for this game. And oh boy do I get chills everytime he says *killing monsters* and the music starts banging. Oh man.

theme's strong, the story's strong, the atmosphere's strong. But the game itself? Extremely weak... Poor skill system, poor combat system, glitch riddled, lack of content for various parts.

I'm here to pay homage to the fact that we will never again get a game of this caliber. (And before anyone mentions cyberpunk 2077 to me, by the time that game comes out the sun will have turned into a red giant, and our entire solar system will have gone extinct.)
Well we got Witcher 3 and all of it's expansions so maybe we'll still be alive by then.
2077 will be coming out in Q1 2018.

The witcher 3 is a game I paid $60 for, and $30 for the expansion pass. Two and a half triple-A titles in cost. I have 300 hours played. I've played hte main campaign twice, hearts of stone twice, blood and wine once, and i'm doing death march from the start, and at the Baron, and I seriously don't think I've EVER gotten this much mileage out of a video game.
Nope If they keep their tradition it will come in 2019 as every game they made had a 4 year span between them
I know it's not possible, but I seriously want either a series or a movie with this CG animation. The choreography and animation is just spectacular in these trailers.

Guys, if you want to see an animated movie like this and are a Final Fantasy Fan, I really recommend you watching the Kingsglaive movie. The Animation and CGI is exactly like the FFXV Trailer, it's a movie about the backstory of the Final Fantasy 15 backround.

One of the best cinematic trailers ever. Also I feel like the Witcher has always had undertones pointing that you have monsters born to kill that don’t really have a choice in how they are and then you have humans, which can sometimes be worse than the actual monsters.

Csanad121 The Song of Ice and Fire series, while great books (don't get me wrong. They are great.) are not as dark and cynical as the Witcher series. The series is more of a deconstruction of fantasy tropes. Geralt, while the main character, is a cynical man that sees no true distinction of good and evil thanks to his many adventures and experiences. As shown in this trailer, which says a lot about the world he inhabits, the world of the Witchers is similar to the Song of Ice and Fire series, but there is more cynicism and gray areas to be found in the Witcher series. Though I could be wrong about that.

The books gain more fame thanks to the games and the games utilize the unique world created in the books without actually just making game versions of the stories in the books. It's a good tradeoff :p

Has to be one of the best cinematic trailers ever. Whoever wrote the dialog for this trailer was a genius; from the insult to the soldiers from Geralt, to Geralt's philosophy on evil, to the final line when Geralt responded to the soldier's question with, "Killing monsters", every bit of dialog was just awesome.
I especially love the "Killing monsters" response. It was so perfect, it makes me smile in satisfaction every time I watch this. Monsters are not just three-eyed beasts.
cepheus06 Geralt's philosophy of evil was a paraphrased version of a quote from The Last Wish, the first book in the Witcher series. All the rest of the dialogue was original, though.
cepheus06 The "Killing Monsters" is actually kind of from the books. Geralts trains a new Witcher in the Books and the new Witcher asks Geralts why he carries a steel sword if he's only supposed to kill Monsters. Geralt then explains that the first monsters he killed were Bandits that were raping a farmer's daughter and that his definition of Monster has nothing to do with appearance.

There have been exactly two game trailers powerful enough to me to make me come back, years later, and still feel the exact same emotions I did the first time I saw them. Skyrim, and this.
No games is on the level of this legendary game, Not even Red dead 1 or 2 , Skyrim, any MGS game, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, God of War 2018 or Ragnarok, etc.. This game is the Greatest game of all time or The Greatest in the 21st century at least.

I am re-watching this trailer after 3 years. Why am I still getting goosebumps when I have completed the game including the DLCs 7 times?
Wow. I've havent had an epicness chill in my spine for a veeery long time ,but this "Killing monsters" made my blood boil. Its great because Witcher 3 is described as more Slavic than second one (first one was very Slavic). Only its bad that they decided to make game more mainstream and its not as Slavic as it should to be.
BTW. I love how rich and beautiful is Polish language! Sapkowski works are amazing linguistically ,and I'm affraid no translation may be even close to original. Even the title of this game in Polish is "Dziki GON" which is old-Polish word. "Wild hunt" would be "Dzikie polowanie". It's great to be Polish because of this language.
***** Thats what I was affraid of. I'm affraid that even translations to other Slavonic languages are not even close to the level of original. Its like reading Shakspeare ,you have to learn english to enjoy it truly. And learning Polish is not a popular thing. Even such linquistic genius as Tolkien never learned Polish because it was too hard for a person who dont live in Poland.

I dont hink it may be THAT bad. You may learn a lot about European folklore including strong focus on Slavonic. I believe its still great saga ,simply the language wont be so rich and interesting as the original but the strory itself is beautiful and psychologically realistic. It nothing like most fantasy novels.

As a RvB fan, I recommend watching all of it though. While the front half was more about humor and really should be viewed with expectation of jokes and not fights or story, it was quite interesting and you'll have no idea what the later seasons with the fights are about otherwise. Besides, the fights are so much better when you finally get around to them.
Also, never read any spoilers. You'll regret it.

It's a great polish saga which is not so good known in foreign countries because of our rich language:) Yes, polish has many words which don't have equivalents in english and I must say that we have many words which cannot be translated in english because this language is too poor. I'm not saying it to insult sb but it's obvious truth;) I for example read many books in other languages than in my national language - in polish but it's easier for poles to read sth in english. One english verb has at least 10 polish equivalents. But I need to say: witcher is really great saga and richness of the author imagination - Andrzej Sapkowski is impressive.
Łukasz L1997 I don't think this is true. English dictionary contains more words than Polish. The advantage of Polish langage lies in its almost unlimited ability to create new words (neologisms), which sound good, and are perfectly intelligible for a Polish speaker, but are almost impossible to render into other languages.

It's 2021 and I'm still at awe every time I watch a witcher trailer!! Amazing.
This game is almost 10 years old, and yet still feels brand new in so many ways. The game, both DLCs, the trailers, the (re)playability, the characters, the voices, the combat mixing magic, potions and sword skills.
The only con about this game is its learning curve. Speaking from my experience, i got overwhelmed during the first hours with the amount of information, menus, skills, etc.. I almost quit. But once i learned it, it really made me say what I almost never say about a game - "this game was too cheap for what it is".
Amazing game!

Girl was evil, she killed wounded soldiers for loot and ate them. Imperial soldiers were evil, they were enjoying the torture of a defenseless woman. Geralt didn't choose, he just stopped the evil that was happening before him.
