- Pamban Railway Bridge nears completion, train service to Rameswaram expected soon
Construction of the new railway bridge at Pamban, the gateway to Rameswaram island, has been underway since 2020. While 1.6 km of the bridge has been completed, 500 meters remain under construction. The drawbridge, designed with modern electric lift technology, was relocated to its designated area on March 13. Engineers installed four steel piers and attached iron plates and wheels to lift the drawbridge using a hydraulic system. Completion of the bridge is expected soon, with train service anticipated to start shortly thereafter.

Eagerly waiting. Even though I like to drive there are almost 7 to 10 tolls between the trun towards and to the rameshwaram. Some random guy stops the vehicle asking to pay some amt every 3 to 5 km not sure are they legitimate or not but there will be some table in small shelter some broken barry gate (Broken Wooden or Bamboo ) to collect. Many people complain even police ask money when they see vehicles from other states.

Just a small comment but not to take it on .... even Indian Fabrication and Erection companies should bring a safety culture.... it will really change the attitude of foreign countries that even India is moving high on safety ... HSE should become a part of our work culture ... but the team down at Pamban is doing a great job
