In fairness there was a candy I actually quite liked called Whoppers--malt balls, essentially--but I found out they were my dad's favorite candy so I'd automatically set them all aside exclusively for him to eat.
On a tier list I'd imagine "give to dad" would be for lesser candies, but I'd struggle with that tier because I made sacrifices lmaooo

At a guess, I'm guessing they weren't freely available domestically for a while, so the Duty Free shop was the most common place to find them.

Red Licorice is more of a cherry and licorice mix.
Only black Twizzlers have licorice extract, the red ones (strawberry flavor) are the most popular and are 70% of all twizzler sales

Twizzlers look like licorice, but they're not. I'm surprised that they didn't make note of Twizzlers being pseudo licorice, but not disappointed. Because, let's be honest, they don't taste the same. They just have a similar texture.

I absolutely loved those as a kid. I haven't had them in a little while, but I still love them.

The first one in "don't know" are called Bit O Honey. They're good, like a honey flavored tootsie roll. You just feel like they're from a different time period, and the paper gets stuck to the candy itself when you open it

The main difference between Hershey's bar and kiss is that the bars are tempered chocolate. Idk if it changes the flavour but it does change the texture and the look

I had to make my own comment about this same fact because I didn't see anyone talking about it. They are the best. The only candy where the lime and lemon are just as good as the red flavor. Also regular Tootsie rolls suck.
The watermelon laffy taffy from back when I was a kid was probably the single most beautiful thing about being young.
The kind of Swedish fish that Dan described the Jewish deli having sounds like the Swedish fish candy we actually have here in Swedish in our supermarket pick-and-mix candy departments

I've always known Bit-O-Honey's were not super common, but dang are they good. I hope the grumps get to try them some day.
My favorite candy didn't even make this list. Chick-o-Sticks. Literally the inside of a butterfinger except a little softer with coconut sprinkled on it instead of chocolate. I used to chip off the chocolate from butterfingers to eat them before I discovered those. Didn't like American chocolate until later because it's hard to get used to the vomity taste.

So I’m different with how I eat my own candy in that first gone is typically making space for better stuff saved for last. I acknowledge that a community bowl will absolutely have a few “last gone” selections, and I think everybody can agree that if there’s a big variety at first then there’s a big pile of ONLY Whoppers left over at the end. This has helped me appreciate them more since I (the fat guy) get what is apparently too good for those other people.

Yeah, those are American smarties specifically. Although regular smarties are basically fruit flavored m&ms, I kind of hate them too.
Sour Patch Kids have a special place in my heart because we use them at Wasteland Weekend to help give folks a boost when they're low on electrolytes. In the med tent at the event you'll frequently see red-faced, overheated attendees with cool washcloths all over, a full canteen of water, electrolyte tablets and a lil cup of sour patch kids. Now when I have a lil shotglass-worth of 'em it makes me think of the mojave desert and Mad Max.
Oh man, the snack I would always have going into the movies was popcorn and Malteasers. You sprinkle the Malteasers periodically into the bucket of popcorn, eat them together, and you get an amazing sweet 'n salty, choc 'n malty heaven. It's objectively the best cinema snack. Source: ex-small cinema owner.

Oh my god, i have a fond memory of those caramel apple lollipops too! I went to this sort of headstart preschool and they would keep a little bowl of candy at the reception counter (hidden, so kids didn't beg) and every so often, rarely there would be one of those lollipops and i snatched that up so fast! I just remember like being in a bad mood one day and Mom picked me at the end of the day and i got to pick a candy and that was in there and it just made the ride home 10x better
I'm about to listen to this while I sleep so I can have sweet dreams
I feel like we now need a 10MPH where they eat all of the candies and see of their tiers still hold true.
