Thank you so much for this fresh perspective! Makes so much sense. I was always able to eat healthily because I viewed it as a worthwhile and enjoyable thing to do. I look forward to approaching things with these new perspectives you've shared.🙏

I admit I get irritated by a lack of self-discipline in myself and others. This is such a more compassionate way to think about it. Looking forward to hearing more about this topic.

Thanks for the great video, Leo! So insightful. I want to use discipline for so many things -- getting to bed earlier (so hard for me!), fitting in exercise, meal prepping my meals on the weekends because I eat differently from my family and I never make my food during the week because I am busy making theirs, reading for a sustained amount of time (I love to read but end up only reading for a very short time because I am so distracted by the other things I need to do), de-cluttering. I could go on.....lol. I guess it all boils down to the discipline to be intentional and focused on one task at a time. Yes, you were talking to me when you said to practice discipline right now by watching this video without switching to something else, lol. But I listened to you and resisted my natural inclination. It was indeed a much better expeirence. You really reframed discipline for me in this video, and gave me some great strategies to try. I especially liked the mindset shift of practicing discipline because of something I care about. Lightbulb moment. I am very disciplined at caring for my family, because I care about them., but not so disciplined at caring for myself. I have to work on that. Thank you!

I just read Zen to Done and I'm going to go back over it slowly. Already this morning I've tackled a hard task that I've been putting off and it feels great! I've never read anything on productivity before but always seeking to discipline myself and,be more organised. (I'm a homeschooling mum of 2). In regards to where I'm wanting to apply discipline and focus to follow through is with blogging as a business. I've stopped and started over the years, even a hobby blog that was going well, I gave up on! Lack of consistency.

Amazing, thanks for sharing that and actually practicing with it!
That makes sense, wanting to apply discipline to the business of blogging - I can relate!

Hi Leo - A great video! It is a change in mindset from a different perspective that has been right under my nose and needed to apply to my daily life.

Thank you Leo, a very insightful way to think about this topic. For so many of us, more and more we rely on discipline to get us through our work and our days, as more and more people work alone, or on their own schedules. (Opposed to "show up at 8:35 for your shift and go at the exact same pace as all your coworkers for the rest of the week.)
I'd love to hear about how the one-minute-rule could, or not be, useful. It's incredibly useful to me for some things that are important but easily shoved aside (pushups/chi gung/journal/household chores). But not so useful for things that take much longer than one minute to get even started (getting to the gym, making invoices, cleaning out the garage etc).
In a way, I've managed to cut out a lot of things that are not important to me at all. But that does leave me with a lot of pressure to work on the things I've chosen to care about. Often, once I get started I'm a steam train and don't get tired or distracted at all. But to get started... (Like I mentioned: the 1-minute rule doesn't help breaking through procastinating with these bigger tasks).
Thanks for all you do! I started reading your blog 15 years ago at a special moment in my life, and now finding my way to your videos at an equally interesting time in life :)
