    Reno this is amazing. I'm ibibio and 'ka iso' means move forward or continue. Thanks for the connect with my lost brothers in Tobago. I know we're scattered all round the carribean. Thank God for social media that's helping make the world a small place. Well done Uncle Reno.

      Interestingly kai so in Igbo language means let's follow. And the 1813 census showed Igbos were the largest ethnic group in Trinidad and Tobago.

    I’m Jamaican. I was on a video with a Ugandan girl (Angella) who asked what something is called in her language. Someone said their language was Ibibio out of 9ja. I’d never heard of them but I consider myself versed in 9ja tribes so I looked them up. Found out there’s a huge population in Trinidad. Looked up Ibibio in Trinidad and found this gem of a video. We also say “obeah” in Jamaica. And the accara is called Festival in JA (likely some brits erased the original word we used). I’m grateful for you sharing this, we are so much more connected than we think. They plucked us from home, but so many things still remain.

      The Igbo population would be bigger. Far More Igbo slaves were taken from the bight of Biafra than any other ethnic group. Igbo influence is especially seen in Jamaica, Barbados, Belize, st Lucia, Grenada etc.

I did an DNA test that resulted as high likely match to the Igbo of Southeastern Nigeria with DNA relatives. Igbo roots is evident in the Virgin Islands, where I'm from, and throughout the Caribbean. Hello Reno, the Ibibios, Efiks, Ejegbams took the Ekpe Society to Cuba and some Carribbean countries. In Cuba, the Ekpe Society is known as Cuban Abakua. The Yorubas and Efik/Ibibio/Ejegbam are the dominant ethnic groups that took there culturs to Brazil. The Yorubas also took Akara [Akara in Yoruba or "Aka ra" means to AKA[COUNT] and BUY[RA] since the delicious fried beans delicacy is first counted by the seller before a buyer pays for it] to BAHIA in BRAZIL the other parts of the Caribbean. The Yoruba religion of Ifa, Culture and food along with that of the Kongo people exists in South America and Cuba!
    Cuban immigrants have also moved the Yoruba and Ibibio/Efik/Ejegbam culture to the USA.

    • @mungopark1876
      @mungopark1876 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ableman2108 The talk here is about fried ground beans, Akara. Definitely not an Igbo word for that dish, even though a Yoruba man (Ajayi Crowther) helped structured the modern Igbo language that you all speak today.

    • @deepprobe6187
      @deepprobe6187 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mungopark1876@mungopark1876 Not entirely correct. Ajayi Crowther, of blessed memory, wrote the first book about Igbo language "Isoama - Ibo: A Primer." This was done through returned Igbo slaves in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Basically, he listened to them, they explained the meaning and he wrote down what he believed he was hearing. Bear in mind that these were returnee slaves. Therfore their Igbo might have been corrupted and it wasn't clear if these people were core Igbo or Igbo sounding people from places like present day Rivers etc. Consequently, the translations and structure were mostly inaccurate, but a good attempt anyway. For example, "Chukwu" was written as "Tsukwu". Naturally, books with the proper translation and structure have since been written, which is mostly related to the Igbo spoken in present-day Imo state. Therefore, it's quite reckless and petty to state that he structured the language Igbos speak today. Basically what you are saying is that at some point after her wrote that book, Igbos (who were majority illiterate at that point) read it and abandoned the way they spoke to adopt his 19 page book as their language? Very laughable claim.

    Corrigendum:
    Hello Reno, the Ibibios, Efiks, Ejegbams took the Ekpe Society to Cuba and some Carribbean countries. In Cuba, the Ekpe Society is known as "Cuban Abakua." The Yorubas and Efik/Ibibio/Ejegbam are the dominant ethnic groups from modern-day Nigeria that took their cultures to Brazil and Cuba. In Old Havana and the Matanzas Province, You'll find the cultures especially that of the Yorubas who have a Yoruba with some Cuban-Spanish influence still spoken.
    The Yorubas also took Akara [Akara in Yoruba or "Aka ra" means to AKA[COUNT] and BUY[RA] since the delicious fried beans delicacy is first "counted" by the seller before a "buyer pays" for it] to BAHIA in BRAZIL the other parts of the Caribbean. Akara is still called Akara je by the thousands of Yoruba-descendants in Bahia, Brazil. The Yoruba religion of Ifa, lannguage, culture and food along with that of the Kongo people exists in South America and Cuba!
    Cuban immigrants have also moved the Yoruba and Ibibio/Efik/Ejegbam cultures to the USA states of NY,
    California, and Florida. I remember reading over 10 years ago about the visit of a group of Cuban Abakua [Ekpe Society] in Cuba who came on a visit to Nigeria.
    Reno if you are still in Trinidad and Tobago, kindly visit the descendants of Yorubas who were resettled
    as indentured workers in Tobago in the 1800s after they were set free in Trinidad and Tobago
    by the British Navy Squadrons from slave ships heading to Cuba from Nigeria and Benin Republic in the
    1800s.
    We need to start taking DNA tests to at least reconnect with some of our cousins whose ancestors were deported from the shores of West Africa and Central Africa so that they have a closer bond with us.
    I'm def gonna take that DNA test to help those who would want to find their roots.
    Ancestry.com and AfricanAncestry.com look legit as I've watch some of those videos
    Cheers Reno!

    Please ooo, these are truly our relations, our flesh and blood indeed, but truth is they are NOT lost...they were simply relocated by chance and circumstances and given new places in earth to inherit for a very powerful Divine purpose.
    Bear in mind that when our brother Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt, in the Bible, they did it to hurt him and to scuttle the dreams God gave to him, but what happened? They only helped to send him to the land where the dreams will be fulfilled! Yes, they helped to fulfill his destiny!
    It is the same thing with all our blood relations scattered all around the globe. The agents of dispersion came and decapitated us, destroyed our legacies in order to use us a slaves, BUT the TRUTH is that God used their wickedness to secure for us far away regions, nations and beautiful habitations that were too far away from our reach, but now we own those lands and countries which would have been impossible for us to claim as our nations had they not tried to dislocate us in the first place.
    I COUNT IT AS A BLESSING, (regardless of the terrible pains and sorrows of loss, deprivation and separation our predecessors must have been subjected to) it's good THAT THEY DISLOCATED US, SO THAT GOD CAN USE THEM TO BRING US TO OUR VARIOUS INHERITANCES located AT FARFLUNG REGIONS OF THE EARTH. Now we legitimately own those regions, bought by God for us, with our blood, pains and sorrows.
    ALL WE NEED TO DO NOW IS MAKE DELIBERATE EFFORTS (among ourselves as Reno has begun to do), TO RECONNECT, REBUILD AND REPOSITION AND RETAKE OUR LEADERSHIP POSITION IN THE WORLD AS OUR GOD HAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED IT for us.
    We did it before, as a matter of historical facts we were the first to do it, and we will rule the world again (and develop it) as the slave underdog called Joseph ruled over the Egyptians that once forced him into slavery in their land.
    In all those places where we were once forced to serve as slaves, we will rule their nations, regardless of being presently cast into the dungeon by Portifar.
