A few thoughts. For starters, playing against the awful AI makes this video very difficult to glean practical strategy from, which I'll expand on in further points. -Because the AI is awful, they fed you *crucial* food resources early in the game that would otherwise not have been available to you when playing against real players. -Cards like the Carolina Wren, Mountain Chickadee, and even the Mississippi Kite are cards you would probably want to snag to get at least 2 cards in your Forest that have utility, and also can net you 2 Food + other benefits, depending on the card. My main criticism is that this isn't a video about how to deal with blah starting cards, but rather how to deal with blah starting cards *when food isn't a problem for you.* This is a huge difference in early-game decisions and synergies. Your starting decisions are exactly what I would do, but I wouldn't make subsequent decisions based on the assumption that AI/other players will grant me the convenience of never having to play in the Forest. Just my 2 cents.
I'm with "Return to Reason" on this one, gents. Fun video, but not particularly about playing from behind - especially because the Pied-Billed Grebe is among the better cards in the game. It doesn't really count, in my opinion. I'd love to see another video that talks more strategies, with worse cards and harder AI.
Good call. We hav one we're working on that does exactly that. Basically starting with no food resources which definitely makes it significantly tougher.
Just started playing Wingspan on Steam a couple days ago. I only played 2 player AI with an average in the 70's. After watching your videos I achieved a high score of 86 on 2 player and 108 on 4 AI players! Btw the settings were at normal. Thanks for your thoughtful instruction! I'm awaiting the board game, should arrive end of week. I've also ordered Cascadia which should have a similar feel with somewhat less depth, hoping to encourage play with the family.
Thank you for this, I learnt quite a fair amount in this video, this is a great concept. However, would like to see one with a worse starting hand than this. As mentioned, the pied-billed grebe is a pretty good card and it set up your options quite nicely.
Can you guys get into Scythe next? Your 140 pts series for Wingspan was SO useful! Just the way you talk through playing the game and strategy. Scythe was also made by Stonemaeir Games and the digital edition is great
Yes, I did a tutorial walkthrough of the digital edition, but that is one that we need to get to in more depth. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for watching!
The game has so much beauty too it. The game is very well done. I haven't purchased the game yet, money is a bit scarce at the moment, but I will be purchasing it, and when I do I know I'll be able to find the best help right here with you Legendary. Many thanks for the video. Liked, and shared.
Thanks for watching! You won't regret getting it. Other affordable options include getting the app that we feature here, or you can buy the module for Tabletop Simulator also.
@@LegendaryTactics I'll most likely stick to the digital version. I own tabletop simulator but I have no friends which are interested in tabletop games (they enjoy fps games for the most part). Thank You Legendary for putting these videos up for us to watch, and enjoy.
You need to use the strategy using the oceanic nector board which changes the strategy on how many birds you will keep and that you start with six food instead of 5.
I've only played it a couple times but it makes it waaaay easier to play birds! As you can get nectar which works as a wild. It's easier to get more cards and food early game but a little harder to get a lot of eggs though.
I own Wingspan, almost at the top of my Play list, and this video will help. Thanks for making this for us.
Glad it helped to get it on the table!

Good points and well taken. We just released a video on Tournament strategy that might be more to your taste. Thanks for guiding us in that direction.
@@LegendaryTactics Nice, I'll watch it right now!
0:55 What do mean nothing compelling?! This duck is Egrebiously compelling!!

Awesome. Thanks for sharing that with us. It makes us feel like our videos have purpose!
My brother kept beating me in this game. Started watching your videos and got 97 points first game back thanks man!!
I'm glad they helped. So close to that hundo mark.

I haven't tried this variation yet. Does it improve the game?

I got 122 with a House Finch + Red-winged Blackbird by using a tucking strategy which worked after I got a Killdeer, then a Crow, then the Catbird.
Oh excellent! That is a really nice combo!
Great vid guys!
Thank you!
Not an average start at all lmao, this dude is getting great cards and free resources like mad.
