We don't get to pick what "our" song will be, it's just whatever is playing on the airwaves when some important event happens in our lives. I was 17 & snuck into a club. This song had followed me around all night. Met a girl with jet black hair and a tiny snake tattoo on her neck. She literally had "trouble" written on her, but she was SMOKING hot and I was mesmerized by her. Very important night for me that one, and THIS song was the soundtrack. I hear it, and for 4 minutes, I'm in bliss.
I wonder if people didn't take them seriously because of their name. Perhaps if they were called something like The Offspring or something they would have been huge!?
The other day I was playing this and the neighbor thru a rock the the window so they could hear it better 🤔 actually I have pioneer sx1250 klipschorns and a long list of other stuff hooked up. Over 9000 watts. It rattles the neighbors walls. I haven't turned it in in a very long time since the police were here last and that's not a joke. I could tell the story but anyways, I kinda have PTSD from that situation. Guns drawn on us. It sucked. Those fkng bags. They saw the kids in the backyard with airsoft. Said they thought they were assault rifles the cops came over the fence and thru the gate guns drawn. Making everyone get in the ground. Those cops shoulda all been fired. The kids were in middle school. Then they came in my backdoor guns drawn on me. All because they heard the music a block away. Rage against the machine was playing can't remember song. 😬
I'm a trucker and this song is on my playlist. Listen to it when I need to hammer down and get where I need to go in a hurry. It's definitely a drive fast song.
I'm not an astronaut (that I'm aware of) but everything else in this thread applies to me. Collected rare coins and cards since the 90s, have a storage unit, I'm in the comments and regularly listen to JCS 😂
jimmies should have been huge. I would put them up against any band of their era. they were great live. I'm in my 40's now and my teenagers love jimmies. long live the shack!
That is why they broke up. They promised their fans from the beginning that they wouldn't go mainstream. So when they started getting really popular, they broke up over differences because part of the band wanted to get big and the other part wanted to keep their promises to their fans. I saw them live at HFSfestival in DC. Did not dissapoint.
Agreed! I have never heard of them until now, and I'm from your generation... (Kinda strange, seeing I was watching MTV a bit back in the day when they actually played music/underground bands, and had just a couple of programs e.x. Beavis and Butthead which were rad...) Cool to find this "old-school" grunge/Alternative band! Cheers! :)

Ha! Soooo true! I hate too be an "Old Guy", (Which I guess I am now... Haha! ) But there was something special about those times... Finding out about new bands via MTV after school... Going down to the Local Record Shop and looking for new exciting music, (Which when you bought the album, you listen to it from song one till the end, getting the WHOLE album experience, the way the artist intended it to be...) AS well as making "Mix-Tapes" and getting "Mix-Tapes" from your friends that had bands and songs that maybe you had yet to hear about...
Not at Wonderland over on Halsey in Portland Oregon. The most expensive (big modern games were 4 nickels) but all the old-school games were just a Nickel
just saw them at their 20th anniversary show with the original recipe, it was fucking amazing! truly, truly amazing. it brought me back to '97. these guys meant so much to the maryland area when i was a kid.
Really! RAD! Curious as to why they never "Broke Out" in the way that other Grunge/Alternative bands of their generation did... (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Silver Chair, Melvins, Bush, Mudhoney, etc, etc...) They most definitely had THE SOUND, and an AWESOME sound at that! (I just found them, and I'm stoked I did!)
so good. Jimmies Chicken Shack made two of my favorite albums (BYOS and pushing the manilla envelope" both are bangers. I grew on Kent Island, as a Marylander Jimmies Chicken Shack are legends.

As I was searching then watching the music video of Dropping Anchor by Jimmy's Chicken Shack - one of my 90s rock faves, I saw this song Higher from down below. The other day I was over at some friends' house and they were playing a random mix of 90s songs. Suddenly, "Do Right" came on and I asked, "Is this Jimmie's Chicken Shack?", which both shocked and confused them all. LOL! Thanks HFStival for playing this local band.
Sooo miss these guyz!! \,,/ I was talking with a customer blumbled out " push the envelope " and BAM! Jimmie's chicken shack!! Had to watch again after all these years! Still really kicks ass too!! \,,/
Jimmies chicken shack, every astronauts favourite band.

A timely comment.

One of the most underappreciated bands of the late 90s/early 00s
Yezzir! I loved this band in highschool.
Mid-late 90s. Part of the best times and music

what a killer tune, total gem from the 90's
"gem" is a good descriptor for this song.
Saw these dudes in the 90’s at a outdoor festival. The amount of smoke coming up from the crowd during this song was truly amazing.

my thoughts exactly... that name is horrible and doesn't sell
The name isn't that bad there's bands with names just as bad that were huge
*laughs in KoRn*
the album is dope!
Lll
When I crank this up, my whole street hears it. Rocking some old school Fisher and Pioneer components from the garage. Rock till I RIP!

My first mosh pit. These dudes opened up for Everclear at The Flood Zone in Richmond Va. Prolly 1997..good times were had by all.
The flood zone had so many great bands play there.
@Sean McCray they'll be in Winchester Feb 1st.
Saw them in 1998 Atlanta, line up that night, 311, Jimmy's Chicken Shack and Creed, good night out..........
Damn, I remember that show. It was lit! Forgot all about the Flood Zone....

Jimmie’s Chicken Shack’s “High” playing in the background mesmerized the kid 😂😂😂
I have a feeling the views on these videos are going to go up in the next few days

Jimmy's Chicken Shack "High".
Love that song.
Two of the members were in my dads band, its cool to see that they were so successful!
I was expecting one of those bad weird bands (based off the bands name) . However this was a surprise 😅😂 thanks Charlie and the astronaut 👩🚀
Discovered it when I was 33. Absolute fire.
On a ski trip in Killington Vermont, that Saturday night we saw Jimmies Chicken Shack live at The Pickle Barrel. Good times. Late 90’s
Jim Halsell loves Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, listens to it in prison every day!
Wait he’s not in prison? Why not?
we used to listen to this back in the day. a fucking groove monster!
HIGH was played tonight after a goal in the Blues/Predators playoff game! vet cool!

This band, like your taste in music, is horrible.
Jack Steel it's a good match for your skidmark of an opinion then :)
LOL "skidmark of an opinion" for the win!
JCH never reached "really popular" status. And that's coming from one of their biggest fans.
