Is Ripsaw RETURNING to Alton Towers?

- Staffordshire Moorlands council applications show proposals from Alton Towers to replace Funk N Fly with a new ride that matches the height requirements needed for a Ripsaw replacement (Ripsaw was originally 18m in height). Could the Huss Rides floorless top spin rumours / speculation finally be coming to fruition?
Despite my optimistic video, the answer is most likely no. The reason I say this is because the rumoured 3 flats that have been purchased were due to be constructed in 2025. With planning permission soon to be accepted or rejected this could merely be a filler attraction or something else entirely until those 3 flats are constructed next year. Whilst this video is about a Ripsaw clone / floorless specifically it MAY not be the ride in question here JUST yet but all signs currently point towards a flat/s ride return in 2025… only time will tell!

With all rumours and speculations pointing to a Ripsaw return planning application now further adds to the speculation. Whatever happens, Forbidden Valley is getting a new flat ride / experience and Huss Rides are top of the list as manufacturers to build it if indeed it is a flat! PLEASE check the description box for more details on this piece of news though as whilst a Ripsaw style ride is rumoured to return (hence the video) it MAY not be linked to this particular planning application but only time will tell!

Finally!! This is soo long overdue for Towers. Once this gets installed hopefully it leads to more well needed flats around the park. Also Towers is in serious need of tlc after visiting in early January the areas we could see looked run down and dirty. The forbidden valley overhaul is a good start though.

YesyesyesYES!!!!!!! Get in, bring it on and all the other sayings. I love Alton Towers and it deserves every mill thrown at it. Met Bianca at our RCCGB meet and greet last year and she came across as enthusiastic about taking AT forward. Life is good!!!!🎉😂❤

This is the step in the right direction this year I want all the focus to be on Forbidde Valley, next year I would like a year to fill capacoty with Various Flat Rides and unused Buildings used. Examples:
X Sector has Submission Plot and Enterprise Plot.
Dark Forest has the old Ug Swinger, Soakasaurus, Dino Dancer and Ug Bugs Locations plus the enterprise original location.
World of David Walliams probably has enough space for 3 to 4 new attractions, you of course got the 4D Cinema and Nicklodeon Outta Control Buildings and Gallopers Carousel could house an attraction.
And Cbeebies Land still had the Former Ninas Science Lab still SBNO.
So much space still to utillize over these next few seasons
The future is bright
What really worries me is how quiet this new indoor attraction for next year is right now
It'll be fine, just have a feeling it'll be a little later than we all anticipated
All signs point to a brand new shiny evolution of Ripsaw being put in there.. but any flat being put in there is a win at the end of the day

With the Flume Duck returning in Alton Manor and now possibly Ripsaw returning (not including Nemesis being back this year) it is all feeling like a WWE Royal Rumble match in which you have returning wrestlers making a surprise appearance. Same here though with older rides/theming returning...all we need is Project Horizon to be the return of Black Hole then it would certainly feel like this! 😅

I don’t think the whole nemesis area will be ready for opening day. Obviously the coaster is rearing and ready to go but there is still a building up that they plan to demolish and the whole surrounding area looks like… well a construction site! Like you said, it’s either really quick or really slow with these things.
Things are changing all the time but whilst I said Nemesis was delayed a few weeks ago on OTT things changed that very same week and now it looks to be opening but with the area a little bit behind. We shall see! Could change again tomorrow
I always thought of Ripsaw as Nemesis's partner in crime! so it would be amazing to have them BOTH return the same year!

Talocan is listed with an overall height of 18m. So it could well be a TopSpin with decoration.

I hope they get one that's like the one at Phantasialand. The spin on that thing is absolutely MENTAL, almost feels like something you'd design as a child and would go 'nahhhh that's too intense'. It's what I imagine being in a washing machine spin cycle would be like, thought my legs were gonna snap in 2. Having said that I loved it 🤣

Talocan looks like the best flat ride in the world
Seriously, I love intensity - my no. 1 coaster is I305. Talocan IS the best flat ride I've ever done. It almost feels too intense, like 'WHAAAAT' when it really goes for the spin.@@danielward4868
The thing is Talocan is built into a pit, it's massive but you have to go down some stairs to get to it. I know there may not be anything about a pit in the planning app, but it's not like AT aren't well-versed in pit building... 😜@@LiftHillsandThrills

RIPSAW RETURNS ,,Wooohooo -- Huss TopSpin Ride for sure, & with been 18M in Height i would say defo Cave Theming or full surround theming which would act as Sound Barrier to. Be intresting if they did somthing on the lines of (Talocan) that would be awesome, & had this as in Nemesis Cave Portal Theme of some sort .. 😃👍

I never went on it when I visited it was down the first day and I was too tired / feeling groggy the second day 😂 I will be back!
Concrete foundations will not be included in height of the attraction, if they were the base would most definitely be deeper than 1.8m to support the machine.
So the registered height is factored off the individual attraction and not the foundations in which it stands on?
@@LiftHillsandThrills exactly, for instance Apocalypse was 54.5m in height (including plant room) but believe it or not the concrete base was 8.25m deep.

Forbidden Valley a-wakening
Fantastic news! It's great that forbidden Valley is getting a huge amount of TLC, including the addition of a new flat ride 😄 Long may this continue for alton towers 🥳 Do you reckon each year will see a significant upgrade for a zone? Last year it was gloomy wood with Alton Manor really revamping that space around the ride, and this year it's forbidden valley with the nemesis retrack leading to the whole area being adjusted to fit 😄 if you do, which zone do you think will get the next revamp? 😄
I’d focus on X Sector / Dark Forest. They need help
@@LiftHillsandThrills that was such a fast reply 😂 you've got to pick one 😉 personally, I'd go with dark forest as that hasn't really had anything since 13 and I think the smiler and oblivion are enough to keep people going to X sector regardless 😄 my absolute dream for the park is for them to properly upgrade these areas, go more into the horror aspects, and then really capitalise on that for a proper parkwide scarefest 😁

I have wanted to ride a topspin for years. I would have done rameses, but I was too scared, and other days, it was closed. One time, there was a powercut when I was walking to the ride! Shame it closed.

Never did Ripsaw but have done other Top Spins, I did see it as a kid and it looked huge and very intimidating, now I can ride these rides all day.

Back on October 13th, a member of the Phalanx told me something, and swore me to secrecy!
Since 2018, I've been asking park management, various sections, for the return of a certain ride that used to be where Funk'N'Fly was!

I'm so excited for Alton Towers this year, in fact for theme parks in general. It's going to be a great year. I'm not sure having a Huss Topspin fills me with joy though, i'd like to see something completely different, we've all ridden Ripsaw and even Rameses Revenge when it was at Chessington loads of times. If we have to have one though lets hope its themed as well as Talocan at Phantasialand, and not just plonked there on a piece of concrete. Also would a Huss breakdance or Spinning Cruiser fit within the space of the previous Edge arcade??

Id prefer a themed break dance ride. Its a new type of ride for the park and i bet the running costs are lower than a rip saw ride

Had a quick scan over the plans, whilst the height of 18m is correct I'm pretty sure thats inclusive of the concrete structure that the ride will sit on so were probably looking at a ride more in the region of 14.5m wide and around 13m tall. If its a Huss top spin then it'll be by far the smallest one theyve ever made.
13.5M tall is their standard height I believe and with the structure being sunk into the ground with steps down to it the supports could also be sunk in also to accommodate that extra height. Wishful thinking from many but folks a lot smarter than me have said it’s possible I’ll just cross my fingers and wait & see aha

Reading that description it seems as though the concrete structure will house an "access tunnel that will maintain guest access within the Forbidden Valley area."
So there will be a publicly accessible tunnel going through a concrete structure, that will house a ride on top? Or am I reading that completely wrong? Because it sounds to me like they're building something that's footprint will cover the pathway as it is now, so will need to build a concrete structure with a tunnel under it, to site the ride on top of.
That's how I read it but depends on which direction it goes in with it saying south... we shall see!

Hopefully we get to see some documents when the application is officially accepted, and the documents reveal a bit more, because right now this is sounding a bit bonkers from that description alone. Exciting bonkers though :)
Wont be visiting towers much this year unfortunately pal..once or twice to ride nemesis as thats a must..mainly be using our bpb season passes...need to watch my spending as the week we are having europa park in september aint cheap..to stay in one of the on site hotels its costing us over 2 grand😮..it includes passes every day though with early entry so its not all that bad i suppose

It’s still named forbidden valley, it’s still on the website at forbidden valley
Websites can be updated 😊 as it stands FV is still on the planning application but the area name could be changed when it’s all completed, which most likely won’t be until 2025 in terms of all new additions etc
Ripsaw was fab , I was pretty young though when I went on it . Not sure as an oldie I’d manage it 😂😂😂

The topple tower is 17m - 20m (depending on themeing on the top) Could we be seeing something like this themed as another part of the Nemsis creature? Potentially a tentacle XD
Also the Enterprise is 18.4m so could they just be getting a new one up that end of the park then doing something new on the old ones site?

Topple Towers are absolutely awful rides. They look far more impressive off-ride than they actually are. The one at Dollywood was dreadfully dull. Topspins and Gyro swings are still the best two flat models out there for me.

Hey coaster studios thought Alton Towers was one of the best parks in Europe and nemesis sub terra as one of the best experiences. Do you have a response or agree with their opinion? I feel like you are understandably critical of UK parks.
I don’t agree with him but Americans love everything don’t they? I’ve never seen an American have a bad opinion of anything they’re always so positive and everything is awesome! I’m glad he enjoys it so much but if he recently visited the park has been in poor shape but it’s moving in the right direction so the next time he visits I’m sure he’ll love it even more! I don’t feel any UK park stands out on a European stage but a few of our rides do (Smiler, Nemesis, the soon to be open Hyperia etc)
part of me hopes it isnt ripsaw tbh.. i loved it but im just craving something properly new. Most new rides opening nowadays are just the same as an old one or a reimagnining. I wouldnt be suprised if the new indoor coaster will be named the black hole's return 😭

The original Ripsaw ride was closed in 2015 as part of a new long term plan for the park, I think (not sure) parts were becoming harder to come by and with the ride having operated since 1997 it was reaching it's end of service. This new 'Ripsaw' would no doubt be a floorless Top Spin ride which is a newer model that Huss Rides manufacturer and brings the legendary ride back to the park in a new updated way similar to everything else it is surrounded by now being newer, fresh and updated (bar Galactica)

I do think there’s some truth there especially with HUSS confirming at IAPPA they’ve been in talks but at the same time (something I didn’t mention in the video) 2025 was the year tipped for the flats to arrive… if something happens earlier this will not be a flat BUT that’s not to say a flat won’t come in that space at some point
